BAREILLY: Azam Khan, the UP minister for urban development, has kicked up a storm after he was quoted saying "many RSS leaders are unmarried because they are homosexuals”. Khan made the remarks after being told of Union finance minister Arun Jaitley's comment that the 2014 judgement on gay sex should be 'reconsidered' by the Supreme Court.
The minister is reported to have made the controversial statement while talking to the media on the sidelines of a public function in Rampur earlier.

Khan's local media in-charge, Fasahat Ali Khan Shaanu, told TOI, “The remarks of the minister are unnecessarily being blown out of proportion. By referring to RSS, he only meant to say that they are the ones behind the reported move to decriminalize gay sex in India. There is absolutely no place for such things (homosexuality) in Indian culture. This is what the minister was trying to reinforce.”
Shaanu added, “If they (the RSS) are supporting such a move to legalize gay sex then it is quite natural that they endorse the practice, which is perhaps the reason why they don’t marry.”
Earlier this month, Khan had blamed RSS for killing Mahatma Gandhi. Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saying there was no intolerance in the land of Mahatma Gandhi, Khan had questioned the statement, saying Bapu was murdered for preaching tolerance.
"People abroad wanted an honest answer from the Prime Minister about the rampant intolerance in our nation and he used Buddhism and Gandhism as his defence. But when Buddhism started spreading in India, a 'Mukti Movement' had begun, slaughtering all the Buddhists and you can see what the RSS did to Gandhi. This is not the answer and he needs to give in response that the world will accept," Khan was quoted by a news agency as saying.
