Additionally, each tribe appointed a second person, in addition to PAC Rep., to represent them for Meaningful Consultation mtgs. This year all meetings have been virtual or hybrid. The PAC has scheduled to meet officially 22 times. They discuss the needs of American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) children and advise on the development of TVI programming. The Tribes’ liaisons to the PAC are a conduit to Tribal Leadership. SKPS District Leadership meets with Tribally appointed Leaders to discuss all federal programs, education for staff and community members on Tribal history and current events, development of grants, and policy that could lead to significant systematic changes. This is a part of the overall MC process. In addition to official meetings and planning sessions with the PAC, this year, SKPS conducted two MC meetings with each tribe. The tribes have requested and agreed that two MC meetings per year, apart from the PAC meetings, and the public hearing (1.30.2023), would suffice. Some results of these partnerships include staff and community education sessions, and the collaborative development of the Title VI grant. Also, the tribes and SKSD are collaborating on a Tribal Attendance Promising Practices grant and hiring of new personnel. School board members, directors, coordinators and program associates of Federal Programs and Tribal Representatives attended these meetings. Mtg. agendas, notes, and attendance are on file. | |
