One of the goals of the WVCRN is to support students in recovery in attaining their educational aspirations. Through fundraising & donations, the WVCRN is able to offer awards which are paid directly to the student to help with school related expenses. A selection committee comprised of the WVCRN Advisory Committee Members will review and select the awardee(s). Preference is given to WV residents. The amount of the award(s) is dependent upon available funds. Applications are accepted at any time. The committee will make awards prior to the fall and spring semesters as funds are available.

Applicants must: 

• Have at least a 2.0 GPA

• Be actively in recovery from a substance use disorder

• Be enrolled part-time or full-time at a WV college or university

• Be willing to share their recovery story in print, live or recorded video and/or at events

• Must participate in the collegiate recovery community or program at their institution which includes meeting once a month with a peer recovery support specialist; attend at least two collegiate recovery community seminars/groups and attend one special event during the semester
