Marcy DeWalt, Allergan executive director, professional relations, Allergan, was honored with the American Optometric Association’s Professional Affairs Award.

Millicent Knight, OD, FAAO, FAARM, of Dallas, Texas was honored with the Living Legend Award at the meeting, and the NOA renamed its NOA Trailblazer Award to honor Dr. Knight.

 

 

 

 

 

Keshia Elder, OD, MS, FAAO, of Birmingham, Alabama became the first recipient of The Dr. Millicent Knight Trailblazer Award by the NOA.

 

 

 

 

 

Brittany Wright, OD, of UMSL Optometry, was awarded the Dr. Edwin C. Marshall Emerging Leader Award at the NOA annual convention.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sue Downes, CEO of MyEyeDr., was named Vice Chairwoman of the Strickland Women’s Leadership Council at High Point University and has been welcomed to High Point University’s Access to Innovators Program.

 

Nadia A Virani, OD, has been selected as a Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business honoree for her achievements in the workplace and beyond.

 

Kara B. Hayes, OD, of Lake Worth, Florida won the Young Optometrist of the Year award at the Florida Optometric Association’s (FOA) Annual Convention.

 

 

 

 

 

Also awarded by FOA, Stephanie Cueller, OD, of West Palm Beach, Florida won the Lenny Cherdack, OD Student Legislative Award.

 

 

Mamie Chan, OD, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was honored with the 2022 President’s Award for her distinguished service to optometry by the American Optometric Association.

 

Lindsay Sicks, OD, FAAO, of Illinois College of Optometry, and Carole Maldonado-Codina, BSc(Hons), MSc, PhD, MCOptom, FAAO, FBCLA, of the University of Manchester were honored as the Institute of Contact Lens Educators as Contact Lens Educators of the Year.

 

 

Also awarded at the Florida Optometric Association 2022 Annual Convention:

G. Timothy Petito, OD, FAAO, of St. Petersburg, Florida won Optometrist of the Year.

Terry L. Tucker, OD, FAAO, of Fort Myers, Florida won the Edward K. Walker, OD Optometrist of the Decade award.

Jon S. Jacobs, OD, of Sunrise, Florida won the Frank A. Broome, Sr., OD, Lifetime Achievement Award.

Juan A. Menjivar, OD, of Ocala, Florida won the Outstanding Local Society Member.
