Much like the rest of the world, the Windows of Understanding project has been adapting and re-imagining itself in the COVID-19 context. Astonishingly, the initiative has expanded its footprint for 2021 in the midst of quarantine. This includes a more robust online presence via virtual galleries that include the work of children and youth throughout New Brunswick and Highland Park Public Schools.  For those who wish to see art up-close and step outside, there are art displays in windows once again in New Brunswick and Highland Park.

 

An exciting development for this fourth season is the addition of the city of Metuchen to the project, featuring a dynamic exhibition exploring this year's issues on view at the Metuchen Public Library.

Our friends at the American Hungarian Foundation typically host a satellite exhibition for Windows of Understanding in their New Brunswick Gallery, but due to the pandemic they will launch a virtual exhibition on February 1 dedicated to the theme of Racial Justice - for which we placed an open call.

All in-person displays will also be accessible via virtual galleries on this site, to be experienced safely from wherever you may be.
