THAT'S THE GIST OF THE STORY WE HEARD OVER AND OVER TODAY FROM OUR VIEWERS. >> AND NOW THAT WE'RE ON THE NEW WEB SERVER, IT HAS DEFINITELY CREATED A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ALL OF US. KATE: THE FOLKS WE SPOKE TO, SOME OF THE FIRST MARYLANDERS LAID OFF AT THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. AT FIRST SHE SAID UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS ARRIVED PROMPT I L. I WAS GETTING MY BENEFITS FOR THREE WEEKS ONE BALTIMORE COUNTY MAN TOLD US TODAY AND IT JUST STOPPED. I HAVE BEEN CALLING AND SENT MULTIPLE EMAILS, I CAN'T GET ANY CLARIFICATION. >> THE LINES ARE BOGGED DOWN. THE OTHER AVENUE OF EMAILS AND NO RESPONSE THERE IS REALLY LEAVING MYSELF AND I'M SURE A LOT OF MARYLANDERS FRUSTRATED. KATE: THEY SAY WITH NO ANSWERS ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE FROM THE STATE OR FROM THE COMPANY THE STATE BLAMES FOR BUMBLING THE BUILD, THOUSANDS ARE TURNING TO EACH OTHER TO FILL THE INFORMATION GAP. A FACEBOOK PAGE WITH MORE THAN 8,000 MEMBERS AS OF FRIDAY AFTERNOON. >> THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT HERE THAT NEED THE MONEY, IT'S THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH AND WE ALL HAVE BILLS. KATE: SO SINCE WE COULDN'T GET ANYONE TO ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS DURING THE DAY, WE PUT A COUPLE OF THEM OUT THERE, UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, MAYBE SOMEBODY IS WATCHING AND CAN GIVE US SOME ANSWERS. TWO BIG ONES, IS THIS A TECH ISSUE ON THAT SIDE, OR IS THIS SOMETHING ON THE YOU'RESER SIDE OR COULD IT BE A COMBINATION OF BOTH? It was touted as a streamlined one-stop shop. Laid-off 11 News viewers have described it as a massive fail from the start."Now that we're on the new BEACON web cert, it has definitely created a major problem for all of us," said Dianne Bilbo, an Eastern Shore resident.After seven days of crashes and hundreds of thousands of people waiting in a virtual line, there's now a whole new set of issues."Something's gotta be done," Bilbo said. "There's a lot of people out here that need the money. It's the beginning of the month and we all have bills."Then, the unemployment benefits stopped, 11 News viewers said."I filed for unemployment back in March. I received my first payment on April 1, and since that initial deposit on the first, I have not received any other further unemployment compensation," said William Little, of Bel Air. "The phones are definitely bogged down, and the other avenue of emails, no response there. It's really leaving myself, and I'm sure a lot of fellow Marylanders, frustrated."The viewers with whom 11 News spoke were some of the first Marylanders laid off during the coronavirus pandemic. At first, they said, unemployment benefits arrived promptly, and then they just stopped."I was getting my benefits for three weeks and then it just stopped.
