Johns Hopkins doctor reacts to the current state of COVID-19

Doctors at Johns Hopkins provided an update on Friday on the state of COVID-19.

Dr. Brian Garibaldi at Hopkins is reacting to the judge’s order throwing out the public transportation mask mandate and says it’s clear most people are taking more risks than they should these days.

This comes as Maryland’s daily number of new COVID-19 cases remained above a thousand for a second straight day, after not being there for two straight months.

There were 1,015 new COVID-19 cases on Friday and the positivity rate is moving up very slightly and currently sits at 4.57%.

On Tuesday, the Maryland Department of Transportation announced that wearing masks on public transportation will now be optional.

In Washington, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority says masks will be optional on Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess for its customers.
