Turlock High alum Cole Carrigg is wasting little time making his presence known in the Colorado Rockies minor league system. Just over a month after being drafted by Colorado 65th overall in the Major League Baseball Draft and one day after being ranked as the organization’s #11 ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline, Carrigg has been promoted to Single-A Fresno following a 13-game stint in the Arizona Complex League, sources told the Turlock Journal.

Carrigg, 21, was selected in Round B on July 9, one of the last picks of Day One of the annual draft. After officially signing with the Rockies on July 17, he was assigned to the ACL Rockies eight days later.

In his 13 games in Arizona, Carrigg did a bit of everything.

At the plate, the former Bulldog and San Diego State star slashed .396/.464/.688/1.152 with 19 hits (nine being for extra bases), two home-runs, seven walks, 13 RBI and seven stolen bases. Defensively, he played four games in center field, three at catcher and three at shortstop, achieving a .960 fielding percentage in 49 chances. His only two errors came at shortstop.

Fittingly, Carrigg is expected to make his Fresno debut in Stanislaus County, as the Grizzlies began a six-game series against the Modesto Nuts on Tuesday. The remainder of the Grizzlies regular season schedule can be found at www.milb.com/fresno/schedule/2023-08
