The Bordeaux winger underwent a series of examinations and it was revealed he was dehydrated.

Temperatures in some parts of the country in July can average up to 38C.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) media chief Demola Olajire confirmed the situation, with the forward advised to drink more water.

He said: “I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilised.

“He was taken to hospital for tests and he is certified okay.

“He was dehydrated, they said. Told him he needs to be taking enough fluids.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will decide if Kalu will feature in the Group B game at the Alexandria Stadium.

Kalu moved to Ligue 1 from Gent and hit three goals with two assists in his debut season for Paulo Sousa’s side in France.
