What is the New Neighbor Project?

WE WANT TO PROVIDE A VOICE.

The New Neighbor Project is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that provides support to our immigrant neighbors through donation based ESL, Citizenship and HISET classes as well as Citizenship application assistance and scholarship opportunities to help provide a holistic pathway to citizenship for people in our community.

What’s New?

SURVIVAL ENGLISH

In partnership with Home Is Here NOLA, we’re featuring an 8 week Survival English class with topics like how to talk with your neighbors, shop, make appointments, find a clinic, talk with your doctor, landlord, and more. Classes begin April 22, hosted at Home is Here NOLA in New Orleans.

LEARN SPANISH!

Join us online for a 10 week Spanish course beginning February 19th led by the amazing Natalia, a native Spanish speaker ready to guide you through basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural conversation.

TUTORING NOW AVAILABLE AT TULANE!

Beginning February 20th, Tulane University will be offering tutoring sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-8pm on campus at Newcomb Hall. Students can learn English, get help with job searches or resumes, brush up on conversation skills, get help with the citizenship test, and anything else they might need. Students will be paired with a university student for one-on-one or small group tutoring, and access to computer tutoring will be provided as well.

We have had an amazing response to our Kenner classes! Both North Kenner Library and MLK Community Center are now fully booked. We apologize for the inconvenience as we work to expand classes.
