Description of Research & Consent for Participation

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey of school psychologists’ practices and decision making as they pertain to the special education category, Emotional Disturbance.  Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and you are free to discontinue responding to the survey at any time without penalty.  Moreover, we will not make any attempt to identify you personally.  Rather, your responses will be compiled with those of other participants and the aggregated data we collect will be analyzed to form impressions across the group.

This project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Should you have any questions regarding your rights as a research participant, you may contact the Chair of the Institutional Review Board at The Citadel (Kerry Lassiter, Ph.D.; 843-953-5320).

Our intent is to gather a comprehensive set of data pertaining to school psychologists’ practices and factors that guide their decision making within the context of identification and eligibility determination for Emotional Disturbance.  As such, we anticipate this survey will require approximately 30-minutes of your time to fully complete it.
