This year’s Spring to Dance Festival will be presented at a new time and in a new place.
Instead of the Memorial Day weekend, the live, in-person event will take place June 25-27. And the 13th edition of the festival will be staged not at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, but under the Big Top in Grand Center.
The festival will also feature about half as many acts — 15 instead of the usual 30 or more. But organizers are hoping that the different setting will bring about its own kind of magic.
“This certainly will still be a unique opportunity to present our signature event,” said Rich Dee, executive director of Dance St. Louis. “And in a safe, partially open-air venue.”
Among the companies appearing during the three-day event are Boom Crack! Dance Company, DanceWorks Chicago, Eisenhower Dance Detroit, and Owen/Cox Dance Group, along with performers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Miami City Ballet.
