About Us

The mission of Adult Basic Education in Minnesota is to provide adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve their literacy skills necessary to be self-sufficient and to participate effectively as productive workers, family members, and citizens.

 

Along with supporting the above mission statement, Southwest ABE prioritizes the goal of assisting students in gaining skills to obtain meaningful employment. Southwest ABE sees the priority of employment training as the most effective means of assisting our students in all areas of their lives.

Southwest Adult Basic Education 5 Year Narrative 2020

English as a Second Language is instruction to those whose native language is not English.

This program prepares non‐US citizens for US citizenship.

We offer Minnesota’s state adult high school diploma. This is a standard competency-based diploma issued by the state department of education for adults that complete an approved ABE program.

Career Pathways programs provide training that lead to higher credentials and employment opportunities. Training's offered are CNA/TMA, Welding, CDL, and more.  No cost services *free for those who qualify*
