PE Update:
Welcome back Lesslie Hornets! P.E. will look different for us this year. We will not be using the gym. We will be outside when the weather permits, or in your teacher's classroom. 3rd-5th grade P.E. will be before 11 am; Keep that in mind because it still may be damp outside. All special area classes will be for an entire week. For example, if your child has P.E. the first day of school, then they will have P.E. that each day they are in attendance for that week.
It will be a challenging year, but we are ready and so excited to see everyone!
Officer Carson's Safety Blitz
Hello Lesslie Hornets
The time to come back to school has returned and I am excited to return back for my second year here at Lesslie.
I hope you had a great and safe summer break, seemed to last a long time. I have been busy this summer myself, working to keep the community safe.
I know many of you are not coming back to the building, and I am a little sad, I won’t see you for now. But as my mama always said We’ll see each other again soon.
Just a few reminders for those returning to the school.
Waiting on the bus:
Students- Stay in a group going to and from the bus stop.
Watch for cars when getting on the bus and anything that looks out of the ordinary. If you see something tell an adult that you know.
Parents- if at all possible have an adult with the students until the they get on the bus. Sometimes you can set up a schedule with other parents and swap mornings and afternoons.
Parents- if you see something, say something. Report it to local law enforcement and please give a detailed description as best you can.
This year is a lot different than most, please make sure to follow guidelines and make sure to stay safe.
We will not have safety patrol out opening doors at this time. Please make sure if your child needs assistance to let us know.
Counselor's Corner
Hello All! My name is Trekeelia Simon and it is a privilege to serve your family and our school community as the school counselor this year! This is my 8th year as the counselor at Lesslie. As your school counselor, I am here to work with you and our staff to help students be successful socially, emotionally, and academically. Here’s a little about some of things that I do at our school:
· Classroom Counseling Lessons
· Small Group Counseling
· Short Term Individual Counseling
· Consultation with Staff/Parents
· Community Resources & Family Support
I will provide virtual short term individual counseling for students who are referred on their “off” days or days they are not present in school. To refer your child to the school counselor for individual counseling, you may use the following link https://forms.gle/EzfNeQJ2g6sgdQD58 or feel free to contact me via email or phone. Character Traits
We are working to develop strong character in our students! Each month our school highlights one character trait and the trait for September is RESILIENCE—the ability cope and handle things that come your way during difficult times. Thank you for all you do to encourage the development of positive character in your child. Here are some great resilience resources to check out to support character building at home:

Classroom Counseling Lessons
Our classroom counseling program is a series of standards-based lessons, which focus on educational/academic, social/emotional and the career development domains. Each class will have classroom counseling lessons once of month, but will also have access to other self-paced lessons and supplemental materials. During the first few weeks of school, topics will include: the role of the school counselor, academic skills for school success, and the character education word of the month.
