End of Year Events:
Check Out At Chamberlin!
Each grade level will have a chance to come to Chamberlin to "check out" for the school year! This is a time when you can come and say good-bye to some of the Chamberlin teachers, return your Chromebooks and chargers, return your library books, pick up your yearbook if you pre-ordered and pick up any end of year items. There will be tables set up outside of the front of the building for each class during the designated time. Lost and found will also be outside, so you can look for any items you might have left behind. Some teachers might not be able to make it due to the risk factors of COVID 19, but there will be staff members that your child knows and can give a socially distanced "face" (wearing a mask!) to help bring closure to the school year.
o June 10th – 11:30-1:00 – Kindergarten
o June 10th – 1:30-3:00 1st Grade
o June 11th – 8:30-10:00 2nd Grade
o June 11th – 10:30-12:00 3rd Grade
o June 12th – 8:30-10:00 4th Grade
o June 12th – 10:30-12:00 5th Grade
If you are unable to make your child's designated time, please call and we can make a plan to pick up your chromebook and library books.
June 9th - Virtual Field Day
On Tuesday, June 9th, there will be a virtual field day! We will begin the day with a recorded "Rose Assembly" to say goodbye to students and staff who are leaving Chamberlin, including our 5th graders. In the morning, students will have zoom meeting with guest staff members popping in for some fun activities. They will also watch a slideshow of some of the Virtual Field Day challenges from Mr. B.
In the afternoon, we will be having a special treat...popsicles! There will be two bus routes (Bus #26 route will be split between the other two routes) coming to your regular bus stop, with a bus and a Mr. Ding A Ling Truck to hand out FREE Bomb Pops (red, white and blue popsicles). There will also be a few "characters" along for the ride, thanks to Vibrant Church! They will leave Chamberlin School at 1:00 PM. There will also be a Mr. Ding A Ling truck at Chamberlin at 1:30 to hand out FREE Bomb Pops for our walkers. Please remember to social distance when picking up your popsicle! The only popsicle choice will be the Bomb Pop...no other ice creams will be available. If your child has an allergy to the ingredients, please contact Mrs. Farrell and we will make another option available.
June 10th - 5th Grade Celebration Visit
On June 10th, the 5th grade team will be dropping off a bag of goodies, including a yearbook, t-shirt, certificate, etc. to your child at their home. They would like to wish your child well, from a distance wearing masks. If this doesn’t work for you, we will leave the bag on your doorstep.
June 11th - Car Parade
On June 11th, we will have a car parade that will go along the routes of the homes of our 5th graders. If your 5th graders lives on a dead end street or cul de sac, please walk to the nearby intersection...the buses and cars can't turn around on certain streets. We hope that your 5th grade child will wear their t-shirt, to be recognized by the entire Chamberlin staff. Here is the route so all families can find a spot along the route if they would like to participate.

Food Delivery Updates
June 15th - 31: We will continue meal delivery and pickup but only 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. will be offering multiple days of meals each time.
July 1st- August 31st: We are still unsure, as we are waiting on waivers from the AOE and the USDA to finish that plan.
Report Cards and Grading
Without statewide and district common assessments this spring and given the challenges of collecting and grading student work remotely, we have modified our elementary and middle grades report cards. In line with the AOE guidance of April 9, 2020, Assessment in a Remote Learning Environment: Recommended Practices, we have emphasized the following guiding principles in reporting:
Communication with Families: Our K-8 report cards begin with a narrative section where your child’s teachers can speak to your child as an individual and unique learner.
Growth-Oriented Feedback: While not providing traditional grades or scoring individual proficiencies, K-8 teachers will report to parents each child’s key strengths and needs as we look ahead to next year.
Flexibility & Forbearance: Given the challenging circumstances many families now face, it is important to hold harmless students from the standpoint of grading; our K-12 grading practices will reflect flexibility and ensure that grades are not punitive in any way given the extraordinary circumstances families find themselves in.
Transferable Skills: Since learning has necessarily looked different this spring, transferable skills (i.e., Self-Direction, Problem Solving, Communication, Citizenship, Informed & Integrative Thinking) are more important than ever. This spring marks the first time that all K-12 teachers will provide feedback on these skills, either as a proficiency score (9-12) or by narrative (K-8).
REPORT CARDS WILL BE MAILED HOME ON JUNE 15TH.
Growing Gardens, Growing Kids...Common Root's Education Garden
HI! My name is Kayli O’Donnell, I am the Farm to School Educator for your child as well as the Growing Gardens Educator/Gardener for Common Roots. If you have been to our Farm at South Village off Spear Street and walked around, you may have noticed the sweet 48 gardens tucked away near the yellow shed with children’s vibrant art. This is the educational heart of Common Roots Farm, Growing Gardens. It is a beautiful and fun place for children of all ages.
I am on-site from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday and would be happy to show you and your family around the space in safe distance. We can make and enjoy some self-harvested sun tea!
Are you supporting your children’s learning with their teachers? If you are interested in getting your kiddo’s outside to learn about gardening, ecology, and nutrition, reach out to schedule a day for your children to play and learn with me at Growing Gardens. This will not be a group experience, instead your visit will be restricted to one family (siblings or housemates) per day so that we can all stay safe. The Garden is stocked with hand sanitizer, hand washing stations, and sanitation for tools.
Let’s make a plan! Email me at: Kayli.odonnell@gmail.com Or Call: (603) 854-4411
New and fun features of the garden worth checking out:
· Human sized bird’s nest! Experience the shelter and home of a bird! Do some bird watching, we have lots of beautiful sky-friends here.
· Medicine Mound! Growing medicinal herbs in mounds is an old practice, one that Abenaki people who lived on the same land that the farm is now on once used! It is a sacred space for growth, like the belly of a pregnant mother. Come learn about herbal medicinal plants and take some home to try!
· Pole Bean Tee-Pee
· Clay making and shaping
· Observational nature art
I hope your child has enjoyed their Farm to School lessons!
Come visit our urban farm at 55 Allen Road East. Simply follow the signs. Oh yes, feel free to bring a few fruit and veggie scraps to feed the chickens next to the red barn.
The Farmstand is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 2 – 6:30 pm.
Library Books Can Be Dropped Off in the Front Entryway of our school - Please Use this bin to return your books!

- Packets will go out on the bus on Mondays at 9:00 AM. Packet pick up will be from 11:00-5:00 on Mondays.
- K and 1 will have 1-2 Morning Meetings per week and grades 2-5 will increase to 3 Morning Meetings a week.
- Teachers will also be uploading and sharing new learning videos each week, with connected work assignments for students.
- WE ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE DAILY ATTENDANCE. THE AGENCY OF EDUCATION WILL ALLOW US TO COUNT THESE DAYS AS SCHOOL DAYS IF WE HAVE A MAJORITY OF STUDENTS IN ATTENDANCE FOR REMOTE LEARNING. Teachers will be tracking connections with students by 1:30 each day, including attendance at Morning Meeting, student interactions on Google Classroom and emails, texts, phone calls from parents. Parents/guardians can proactively send their child's teacher a status email, text or call to count towards attendance. If we haven't heard from you or your child by 1:30, a staff member will be reaching out to you. Also, please let us know if your child is sick, as we will track that in the same way that we did before school closure. We will be inputting attendance into our system at 2:30 each day. Please know that if you do get a call/email/text, we are only trying to make sure your child is OK and adhering to a state mandate.
