Emergency Operations Plan Development Workshop 8:00am-12:00pm
The goal of the August 2023 Emergency Operations Plan Development Workshop & Review is to give districts a head start on the annexes and appendices that are due October 25, 2023. This workshop is being taught by the TxSSC. The workshop will:
- Discuss the annexes and appendices that are coming up for all Texas districts.
- Share information on what is needed for the plans, where the resources are, and what legislative mandates and best practices need to be followed.
- Cover the Severe Weather, Hazardous Materials, Train Derailment templates and checklists, plus the annual Basic Plan checklist (which is a yearly maintenance checklist for the Basic Plan).
- Provide direct assistance with districts regarding their EOP plans.
Attendees will need to bring their district's EOPs and their laptops to this session. This is a 4-hour morning session. The first 2-hours will be classroom instructions and the last 2-hours will be hands on assistance with EOP development.

Active Shooter Tabletop Development Workshop
The goal of the Active Shooter Exercise Development Workshop is to provide first responder and city, county, and state officials with the knowledge, skills and abilities to lead an Active Shooter Tabletop Exercise.
Scope
Past Active shooter events have proven the need for realistic exercises delivered in the community. This course answers that need by providing a train the trainer (TtT) course on how to design and deliver a Tabletop exercise (TTX). This course will also provide template materials needed to deliver five (5) different TTXs, with one (1) of the five TTXs delivered in the afternoon of the training day.
Attendance Requirements
To meet attendance requirements, participants must review each training module and complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or end of course exam.
Suggested Audience
The Active Shooter Exercise Development Exercise Workshop is an On-Line, train-the-trainer course designed for individuals who may be responsible for developing and delivering active shooter tabletop exercises. Past events have demonstrated that a key point to effective whole community preparation includes coordination across all professional disciplines that have responsibilities in the event of an active shooter incident.

TCOLE 4064 School Based Law Enforcement
The TCOLE #4064 in-person trainings are a two-day, 20 hour training designed to assist SBLE officers and school districts with compliance of legislative mandates requiring districts employing a peace/resource officer to create a policy requiring officers to complete educat TCOLE #4064 trainings are free.

Restorative Practices for Educators
Restorative Practices helps to build healthy relationships by identifying core values and establishing consensus around how we relate to one another when harm has occurred, and by creating accountability for self and others.
In this 4-hr session, participants will first learn about what Restorative Practices are, followed by why Restorative Practices is a proactive and reactive tool that campuses should have in their intervention toolbox. Participants will also learn how to facilitate the restorative process, implement foundational structures for implementation, key components for data collection and analysis to track program effectiveness.

Staying Safe: School Safety Response Curriculum
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is proud t offer a new curriculum developed with Safe and Sound Schools and ALERRT that teaches student safety response options for incidents of violence. Based upon Safe and Sound Schools' curriculum and ALERRT's Citizen Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE), this curriculum will be offered at a train-the-trainer session at all ESCs by TxSSC in the upcoming school year.
School districts will have to get permission from their district's Safety & Security Committee to attend the training. Additional information coming soon!

School Safety Formula Grant Application
TEA released a TAA on June 1, 2023, concerning the Adopted School Safety Standards. These are the standards that LEAs must meet with the 2023-2025 School Safety Standards Formulary Grant, which has an application due date of August 1, 2023.

TxSSC EOP Reviews Begin - September 2023
EOPs and Annexes can be requested at any time by Texas School Safety Center.
2023-2024 Review Cycle
During the 2023-2024 review cycle, the TxSSC will review the Basic Plan, Severe Weather Annex, and Hazardous Materials Annex (including the Train Derailment Appendix) of independent school districts and open-enrollment charter districts.
- March 22, 2023: Evaluation criteria for 2023-2024 review cycle sent to superintendents.
- September 25, 2023: Email requesting EOP documents for the 2023-2024 review cycle will be sent to superintendents.
- October 25, 2023: Deadline to submit plans for the 2023-2024 review cycle.
