See Cro-Mags' Gritty New "From the Grave" Video Featuring Motörhead's Phil Campbell

Harley Flanagan returns as "the Grim Reaper himself"

"The idea for the video is that I'm rising from the grave and going on a mission — like I came back from the dead to become the Grim Reaper himself."

So says NYHC icon Harley Flanagan, vocalist, bassist and founder of pioneering bruisers the Cro-Mags. He's talking about the band's new clip for "From the Grave," the group's second music video ever in 27 years, following 2019's "No One's Victim," their first ever. Adding to its momentous nature, the latest clip also guest-stars former Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell, who plays a ripping solo on the song. Today (May 13th), Cro-Mags have teamed with Revolver to unleash the gritty video, which was shot in a bustling, pre-lockdown New York City — watch it above.

"I think anybody who knows the history of this band and of my life will get it," Flanagan adds of the clip. "It starts off at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, where I will be buried with my family and in-laws. In the opening shot, the grave I'm in front of is actually my mother's."

As for Campbell's involvement, Flanagan enthuses, "Phil is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and I still can't believe I have him playing on one of my songs! I am so honored. The B-roll of Phil was shot by his son Todd Campbell at his recording studio in Wales, U.K."

"From the Grave" appears on In the Beginning, Cro-Mags' first full-length album in 20 years, which will be available on June 19th via Mission Two Entertainment. It's available for pre-order now in an array of formats, including CD, limited-edition yellow or red cassettes, and the following vinyl variants: yellow/orange/black sunburst, transparent orange with yellow splatter, Orange Crush, and ultra-clear with orange and yellow splatter (indie retail exclusive).
