A bill for an act
relating to education; providing for parental notice of a student pulled out of the
classroom; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 121A.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

If a public school student is pulled out of class for an unscheduled removal that lasts
more than ten minutes and the student did not request to be taken out of class or the student's
parent did not know the student was pulled out of class, either the school principal or other
person having general administrative control and supervision of the school or classroom
teacher must make a good faith attempt to notify the student's parent or guardian and keep
a record of the parental notification. A classroom teacher must document the date and reason
the student was pulled out of class and provide the record to the school principal or person
having general administrative control and supervision of the school to be part of the student's
record.
