The Life of Mrs. Annette M. Christman
Annette M. (Richards) Christman, 62, of Fleetwood, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 as a result of a motorcycle accident in West Cocalico Township. She was the loving wife of Dennis R. Christman, whom she married on May 14, 1988.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Annette was a daughter of the late Richard and Christine (Luessem) Richards. She was a graduate of Kutztown University, where she later worked as an Administrative Assistant for multiple Department Chairs for 20 years, retiring in June 2019.
She served as Treasurer for AFSCME at Kutztown University was also a dedicated volunteer and supporter of United Way. Annette also enjoyed yoga.
In addition to her husband of 32 years, Dennis, Annette is survived by her two sons, Marc T. Ritter and Michael S. Christman; and six siblings, Jimmy Richards, David Richards, Donald Richards, Christina Richards, Christopher Richards and Yvonne Edwards and their families, along with her Kutztown University family.
A memorial service to celebrate Annette’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. Social distancing measures will be in effect and we ask that all attendees wear masks. The family will receive guests following the service.

A wonderful Person
I met Annette at KU and she helped me through a difficult time. Then we did yoga together and usually ended up talking afterwards in the parking lot. Last summer, Annette was my road trip buddy to for some ice cream with the Pursue Your Scoop. I was then given the privilege of helping her and Denny to clean out some of their stuff and eBay for them, sending Annette her check each month. I would go to the house and she would have more items for me, researched with the years and information. She was always so thankful for me helping her to clean out and having some good conversation on the way. This spring we would meet up shyer getting eggs from a local farmer. Such a loving caring , wonderful friend and person who will be missed so much.

Beautiful Lady
Annette was always so kind with had such a beautiful smile. My husband Barry and I had the privilege to go on "motorcycle vacations" with Annette and Dennis for a few years. We saw so many places and learned so much, each trip was a a great time and now they are wonderful memories that we will have forever. She was always so kind and helped whenever she could. Only just recently I was telling her I wanted to try a "salad garden", she surprised me the seeds and lettuce to get it started. She would be proud, they are doing well. Love you! Tammy and Barry

Such a wonderful coworker & friend
My dear Annette I am so sorry that you left us all so early in your retirement life. We talked many times in our years at KU of family & our lives and issues, if any. As years extended in our KU days it was more of our aches & pains, and the word retirement inching into our chats. Now as the retirement days grew closer it was now about what each of our plans were looking like into retirement days. I would like to say you were lucky having the time you had where I only had 3 months, but my heart aches that you didn't get to run it like we chatted about. My dear friend sit with our heavenly father and help guide us all in our lives. My Heart breaks for you and your family.

Her Smile
Annette's smile always brought sunshine into a room. We met when I first arrived at Kutztown 13 years ago. A wonderful welcome as I began my career in higher education. She really had a love and talent in making this world better.

A kind loving soul..
I’m so saddened that Annette has left us. She was our department’s secretary for several years and was always pleasant, patient, and had a kind word and smile for everyone. Ever caring, efficient, and helpful as a colleague and dependable and trusted as a friend. Several years ago, she became active in our campus yoga group and loved coming to our twice-weekly classes. When Covid hit, yoga stopped but when our teacher recently began doing Zoom yoga for us, Annette was right there. Recently she and Dennis invited a colleague and me over for dinner. What a wonderful time of shared stories, great food, and lots of laughs. I will always cherish my time with her, and she will always live on in my thoughts and memories. I’m sad for everyone’s loss — she will be missed my many…

Caring
Annette was a very caring person. She reached out to me when I need help the most and was always there with an encouraging word. I cannot thank her enough for the friendship and kindness she always exuded. This world has lost one of good ones. I will miss your smiling face and kind word, your positive and adventurous spirit.

Kind & Supportive in work and life
When Annette joined the Art Dept. she brought us decades of KU knowledge — her presence was felt immediately in the smooth running of day-to-day operations and the undertaking of big projects.
Moreover, what will stay with me forever is Annett's support and kindness of colleagues on a personal level. Annette and I met during a very challenging time in my personal and work life — she quietly championed tasks for me, taking KU burdens off my shoulders — so I could attend to personal matters. Annette did this with delicate discretion, empathy and all without looking for praise. A remarkable woman, a beautiful soul.

Gracious and Kind
I am so sorry we have lost Annette. When my son was very little, she would hire him to sharpen pencils for the English department, and she would pay him in quarters so he could go visit the vending machine when he finished his work. Annette loved children, and she loved her family. I will remember her kindness and compassion and the many stories she told me about her own boys.
