ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Riders on St. Louis's public transportation systems are starting to find the golden eggs hidden on Metro buses and trains. It's part of a spring season kickoff to get more residents riding again.

Photos of winners have been shared by Metro and St. Louis County Police, saying they're walking away with t-shirts, candy and free passes for future rides.

Riders also get to take home a large golden egg and if they post a selfie on Facebook or Twitter, using one of the event hashtags noted on the eggs, they will be eligible for a drawing for a $100 gift card.

Citizens for Modern Transit, the St. Louis region's transit advocacy organization, is responsible for the hidden egg program. The “Sweet Surprises” event began on Monday and will last until all of the approximately 100 eggs are found.

Clues will be posted on their social media pages to help riders.
