This year, QC collaborated with LAGCC to train 11 faculty through modules of curriculum development, technology, and research. The idea is to strengthen transfer pathways between LaGuardia and Queens and encourage triangulated partnerships between international and CUNY faculty.

Prof. Davie (History) is collaborating with Prof. Okeke at the University of Abuja in Nigeria.

At the last seminar activity, COIL Faculty Fellows presented their student projects to be implemented with their international faculty partners in the Spring. We heard about project activities and technology platforms from international participants and facilitators!

Collaborative Teaching and Learning in Multicultural Online Contexts

Dr. Mirjam Hauck: Associate Head for Internationalisation in the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics at the Open University/UK and a Senior Fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy.

Generously offered by a distinguished expert in international virtual exchange, Dr. Mirjam Hauck, this fast-paced workshop addressed effective strategies to build meaningful collaboration between faculty and students in COIL projects.

Participants:

• Learned how to set the scene for sustained collaboration;
• Explored key COIL success factors;
• Engaged in hands-on activity to recognize patterns of engagement and participation and their potential impact;
• Analyzed a CUNY COIL case study to identify a specific factor(s) responsible for successful collaboration and intercultural learning opportunities.
