Juan Carlos Duque

Juan Carlos Duque  is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at EAFIT University, founder/director of RiSE-group (Research in Spatial Economics); a member of the Geographic Systems Analysis Lab (GSAL) group at the University of California (Santa Bárbara); and affiliated faculty at the Center for Geospatial Sciences at the University of California (Riverside).  

He holds a PhD in Business Studies from the University of Barcelona and an MSc in Economics and Business from Pompeu Fabra University. 

Juan Carlos' research on regional science, operation research and spatial analysis has produced more than 40 international articles in journals such as the Journal of Regional Science, Regional Studies, Landscape and Urban Planning, Review of International Organizations, Papers in Regional Science, PLoS ONE,  and Remote Sensing.

He is a member of the editorial board of International Regional Science Review and Computers Environment and Urban Systems,  and an evaluator of proposals for the National Science Foundation and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research. He has participated in consulting for institutions such as  the World Bank, UN-Habitat, Inter-American Development Bank, Andean Development Corporation, San Diego East Economic Development Council, U.S. Defense Logistic Agency, ESRI, European Commission, and Barcelona City Council.
