Comedian Bob Saget is busy with movies, TV series and his stand-up act, which will bring him to Orlando. The act, geared to making everybody happy, is personal and not political, he stresses.

“I go places where you’ve got people from both sides of the aisle ’cause most places I play have aisles,” said the “Full House” star, 62.

When he performs May 8 at The Plaza Live, he estimates he’ll do 90 minutes, 30 of which will be new material.

“It’s just me. I’m going to come out and just pour it out,” he said. The act varies from show to show because he interacts extensively with each audience. But he still sings (he started writing comedy songs at 17), offers rambling “weird talk” and speaks “in a Danny Tanner fatherly way” about how we should treat one another.

He has played Tanner in ABC’s “Full House” (1987-1995) and now Netflix’s “Fuller House,” which starts its fifth and final season later this year. His stand-up is far different from his sitcoms.

“I think it’s silly. I’m still an R-rated act. I’m ‘South Park,’ I’m a 9-year-old kid that learned all the words,” Saget said, chuckling. “I’ve got a certain amount of wisdom from being 62. There’s a little more parenting in what I do in a joking way. I think I’m more myself than I ever have been onstage.”

In the act, he talks about his new marriage (he wed Kelly Rizzo, host of the web series “Eat Travel Rock,” in October). He talks about his daughters, who are 32, 29 and 26. “One of the few things I’m secure about in my life, I love my kids. I have great kids,” he said. “I have a great wife, and I’m funny.”

His other projects include the original movie “Benjamin,” available through Redbox; a documentary on actor-comedian Martin Mull; the ABC series “Videos After Dark”; and the final season of “Fuller House.” Saget’s career includes the memoir “Dirty Daddy” from 2014, the Grammy-nominated comedy album “That’s What I’m Talkin’ About” from 2013 and TV specials, such as 2017’s “Zero to Sixty.”

Saget directed “Benjamin” and plays the father of the title character, a 15-year-old accused of doing drugs. When an intervention is called, chaos follows.

“It’s written to be a sensitive movie about people who are messed up,” Saget said. “It’s a dark comedy. It’s not really a satire to me because I’ve met people like this who are in such denial.”

The cast includes Peri Gilpin (“Frasier”), Cheri Oteri (“Saturday Night Live”), Dave Foley (“The Kids in the Hall”), Kevin Pollak (“Mom”), Rob Corddry (“Ballers”) and Mary Lynn Rajskub (“24”).

“They know comedy, they can do drama,” Saget said. “We do not make fun of the topic of drug use. It’s really a huge PSA.”

Saget is making a documentary on Mull, whose comedy songs were one of the comedian’s biggest influences. “I regard him so highly,” Saget said. “He is an artist, an actual painter. If you look at his artwork, you won’t believe how talented this man is.” Steve Martin, Eric Idle, Norman Lear and Fred Willard will be featured in the film.

Former “America’s Funniest Home Videos” host Bob Saget returned in 2009 to help Tom Bergeron salute the show’s funniest moments in two decades on the air.

“Videos After Dark,” an upcoming ABC series, is an adult version of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” which Saget hosted from 1989 to 1997. The spinoff, meant for viewers 13 and older, draws on friskier videos that executive producer Vin Di Bona couldn’t use in a family show. “It’s more like my stand-up,” Saget said of the series that will play at 10 p.m.

Saget doesn’t know how he’ll figure in the final season of “Fuller House.” “We have 18 shows to shoot. I’ve been doing like three a season,” he said. But he praises Netflix for giving the series “more of a finality than a lot of other series get.”

He declines to discuss co-star Lori Loughlin, who is charged in the college admissions scandal. “It’s just a personal thing, and that’s it. I love her,” Saget said.

His comedy is also personal, a reaction to the crazy world, he said. “My whole point is to bring everybody together,” he added.

Saget is hopeful that the Plaza Live audience will be varied (his act is for 17 and older). “It looks like my kind of crowd. I get anyone from 18 with a fake ID to 90,” he said. “So I hope a bunch of 90-year-olds come as a mosh pit.”
