Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs

I report on news across the country, frequently covering high-profile trials, natural disasters, protests and stories about the criminal justice system.

I was born and raised in upstate New York and spent most of my childhood in Aurora, N.Y., home to the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. I graduated from Ithaca High School, and spent my time in college reporting for the student newspapers, first at The Daily Nexus at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and later at The Cornell Daily Sun in Ithaca. I have also written for The Baltimore Sun and The Albany Times Union, among other newspapers. While reporting for The Times, I have traveled to more than 20 states to cover trials, protests, wildfires, hurricanes and other stories.

The Times outlines its journalism standards in its Ethical Journalism handbook. I care deeply about getting things right, protecting my sources and giving people a full understanding of the stories I cover.
