Just days after the Yankees declined his option, the Yankees re-signed left-handed reliever Joely Rodriguez to a major league contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Rodriguez went 2-3 with one save and a 4.66 ERA in 46.1 innings pitched, striking out 47 over a career-high 52 relief appearances with the Yankees and the Rangers. He pitched to a 2.84 ERA in 21 appearances for the Yankees.

While he was effective against left-handed hitters, right-handed hitters, however, hit .339 against him this season with an .826 OPS.

Rodriguez did hold left-handed batters to a .203/.288/.271 slash line. He did not allow a run in 16-of-21 appearances with the Yankees.

He was acquired by the Yankees from the Rangers along with Joey Gallo in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Glenn Otto and infielders Ezequiel Duran, Trevor Hauver and Josh Smith at the trade deadline.

In four Major League seasons with the Phillies, Rangers and Yankees, Rodriguez is 3-5 with one save and a 4.61 ERA in 102 relief appearances.
