MAOH PTO will work to promote a greater sense of community among families, who live across the metroplex, by organizing social events for families, teachers and students to participate and interact, such as an annual winter potluck, an annual fall carnival, and an annual spring dance.

MAOH PTO will also enhance academic opportunities for the students enrolled in the school, by providing funds for supplementary classroom materials requested by teachers and specials teachers. Additionally, MAOH PTO will continue to work to educate the public-at-large about the unique benefits of a Montessori education.

Mission

As the Parent Teacher Organization for the Montessori Academy at Onesimo Hernandez (MAOH PTO), our mission is to assist the school in achieving the goals outlined in the campus improvement plan of providing high-quality education, creating and promoting a positive climate and culture and progress monitoring of school systems. Our organization serves as a bridge between teachers and parents and will carry out activities to encourage greater parental involvement in the education of our Montessorians.

We've provided teachers with necessary Montessori materials, built a framework around our community, conduct several social events and fundraisers, and partner with our school leadership on recruitment events.

Needs

We pride ourselves in creating opportunities for our scholars and families to coexist and grow together. In order to create these opportunities, we need to raise funds to host community engaging events. Some of these include:

- Fall Carnival - a time to come celebrate harvest here on campus. We host a variety of games and treats along with prices.

- Winter Celebration - in celebration of winter and the many holidays celebrated around the world, we host an international potluck where families can come and indulge in treats from around the world.

- Spring dance - our highly anticipated event to wrap up the school year. We pride on hosting this even complete free of charge filled with treats, DJ music, photo-ops and giveaways.

- Field Day Shirts - we aim to provide a shirt for each scholar on field day free of charge to the families.

- Garden beautification (spring picnic) - we host a spring picnic while also tending to our Out Teach Garden year-round. Where our scholars can learn of plants and gardening first hand.

- Popsicles on the Playground (summer event) - every summer, we host a community event to welcome back families after a long summer break.

- Teacher appreciation and Staff appreciation - we love to shower our teachers and staff with meals, treats, gifts, and even classroom materials. Everyone from our Principal, Guides, Cafeteria, Custodian, and Front office staff are celebrated here.

- Yearbook - our goal is to keep prices as low as possible to make yearbooks affordable to all families.

This year, we have a bold campaign to upkeep our campus. The school has started the "Campus Beautification Murals" where a muralist will come in and paint murals to beautify our campus. One of the proposed murals being in reference to the 5 Great Lessons of Montessori. We hope to raise enough funds to help our school reach this goal.
