UPDATE (1:49 p.m.): The Yankees have, in fact, been trying to trade first baseman Luke Voit.

“But It looks like there’s not a lot of interest,” a source told NJ Advance Media.

The team has also engaged heavily on the pitching market, but seem more likely to have success searching for relief help and have been aggressive in that area.

Luke Voit might only have hours left in pinstripes.

The New York Yankees are looking for ways to trade the slugging first baseman before the 4 p.m. Friday deadline, according to MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand.

Voit likely doesn’t fit on the Yankees’ roster with Thursday’s addition of lefty swinging first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs.

Voit has had a disappointing season, but he’ll have suitors. He’s currently on the injured list with left knee inflammation. It’s his third IL stint of the season. In 29 games, he’s hit just .241 with three bombs and a .698 OPS. But in 2020, Voit essentially carried the offense toward the playoffs. He finished ninth in the American League MVP vote after he lead the league in home runs with 22 in the 60-game season, also hitting .277 with a .948 OPS.

Though he’s not considered a good defensive first baseman, many believe the National League could have the designated hitter in 2022, which could leave more teams open to adding him or Miguel Andujar.

Voit recently bought a home in Tampa, the site of the Yankees’ spring training complex. He took at-bats against Luis Severino in a simulated game on Thursday at Tropicana Field.
