Nursing at Mount Sinai

At this moment, a nurse is at a bedside caring for a loved one; at a computer compiling research findings; at a community site bringing tests to those in need; and in a classroom training tomorrow’s clinicians. The Mount Sinai Health System understands that the care we provide to our patients is built on the talent, dedication, and diverse skills of our carefully selected nursing teams.

Our Mission
To provide exceptional clinical experiences and outcomes for patients and families in the many diverse communities we serve through the advancement of nursing practice guided by unrivaled education, equity, leadership, innovation and scientific nursing research

Our Vision
To be the place where nurses choose to work and patients want to receive their care.

With an intimate knowledge of each patient, Mount Sinai nurses are an integral part of the health care team and relentless in their devotion to the highest level of evidenced-based care. Whether our nurses are working with advanced technologies on a cardiac floor; assisting with complex procedures in the operating room; or performing countless other essential tasks, they are striving around the clock to keep our patients and community in the best possible health.

Advanced Practice Nursing

Every area of the Mount Sinai Health System now includes advanced practice nurses, such as nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists. They work in primary care and ambulatory settings as well as specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, surgery, cardiology, and more. In many ways advanced practice nurses function as the glue between the nursing and physician worlds. Through their dedication and training, advanced practice nurses contribute a great deal to promoting the team approach that helps patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
