Are flip-phones making a comeback? I enjoyed listening to the comprehensive exploration of kids & phones by Kara Swisher and Jonathan Haidt. Here is the podcast link, especially for those who have young kids like me: https://lnkd.in/exazx76f . I am leaning towards a flip phone until my son turns 13. It would be great to read your thoughts, experiences, suggestions.

Want to have a big impact on the crime challenges facing communities across the US? check out the job post - leader of the Law Enforcement Innovation and Crime Reduction Policy team in the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice. BJA is seeking a person with experience developing, implementing, and managing complex law enforcement innovations and crime reduction programs to improve jurisdictional capacity to prevent, investigate and solve crime resulting in higher clearance rates, violent crime reduction, and improved community relations. The person selected for this Associate Deputy Director position will lead a team that directs BJA’s flagship violent crime reduction initiatives including the Public Safety Partnership, Project Safe Neighborhoods, National Crime Gun Intelligence Center Initiative, and STOP School Violence Program. Other initiatives led by this team include BJA’s Law Enforcement Knowledge Lab, National Case Closed Project, and supports for prosecutors. The Law Enforcement Innovation and Crime Reduction Policy team helps law enforcement agencies and their community partners identify and prioritize their crime reduction needs, and gets them access to experts, peers, and funding to help. This team helps communities innovate and test new strategies to equip law enforcement leaders and officers with the training and tools they need to improve public safety and trust. BJA’s Policy Office is a dynamic work environment which employs policy and practitioner experts from the field to identify and elevate innovations, to advance our knowledge of what is effective in preventing and responding to crime, and to increase capacity in communities around the country to build partnerships and implement solutions. We lead a planning process to inform our work, and to engage and listen to the field’s needs. We implement our plans through competitive funding solicitations, and support partnerships to advance training and technical assistance to the field. We also collaborate across the Department of Justice and federal agencies to leverage knowledge, assets, and capacity across government to help communities in need. We offer a flexible work environment with strong infrastructure to support part time telework options. We are looking for interested candidates so please share widely and encourage eligible folks to apply. The application process is relatively easy and is completed online in the USA Jobs system.
