IEA2021 Going fully VIRTUAL Yesterday, we took the difficult decision to convert the Hybrid Congress to a fully Virtual Congress. Due to the ongoing health crisis and widespread travel restrictions, it is now abundantly clear that BC will not enter Phase 4 before the Summer, rendering the continued planning of an in-person Congress untenable. We will be communicating this news widely over the next few days so that authors, presenters and delegates will know what to expect. We ask that you bear with us as we make the necessary changes to the website and registration system. The registration fees for the virtual Congress are being finalized and will be communicated shortly. Registrants who paid for the in-person conference will receive a refund and those who registered for the virtual conference may be required to pay an additional amount due to the increased cost of delivering the full program online. As we turn our attention to planning a fully virtual Congress, the great news is that we have developed a robust technical program with nearly 1000 presentations. We will provide additional information over the next week or two (www.iea2021.org) as we work through the transition implications. We appreciate your support and understanding. #humanfactors #ergonomics #iea2021
Ian Noy, With this transition to virtual, is it possible to make this conference inclusive and digitally accessible to people with and w/out disabilities? Live, accurate captions would go a long way to help people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or in noisy shared work environments at home. Accessible presentation materials (e.g. PowerPoints, PDFs) take some extra work by presenters, but will allow more people to access the materials.
No other way in these times. Take care and see you soon virtually
Unfortunate but not surprising. I am sure it is going to be a fantastic virtual Congress, and maybe even more accessible to the international community.
I'm sure it will still be a great conference and provide opportunity for so many to attend still that may not have been able to before.
Thanks, Ian! I know that you and the IEA2021 team will make this a great virtual event!
These virtual environments open up new avenues for direct communication with fellow participants and speakers. Take advantage of these new chances to meet and talk with the world's leading HF experts...
A tough but right decision. We can pivot with the best of them!
Online is the right option for these times.
