Over half of our scholars have come from a variety of countries of origin outside the U.S., including Belarus, Bosnia, Cambodia, Chile, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, India, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Russia, Somalia, South Korea, Sudan, Tanzania, The Gambia, and Vietnam. Excited to share a recent success story from my time as Client Account Manager in the RAMP.Up program at Seattle University! I had the privilege of working with Nasteha Muse, MBA, a visionary entrepreneur in the early childhood education space. With my support, Nasteha Muse, MBA was able to secure critical funding for her early learning center through the preparation of detailed financial projections, budgeting, and grant writing. Thanks to our efforts, Nasteha Muse, MBA secured a substantial $730,000 from The Department of Commerce Early Learning Facilities Program grant last year and a further $450,000 from the Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise) King County PSTAA General Child Care Facilities Funds grant this year. This funding will allow her to open her doors to the community later this year and provide much-needed early learning opportunities for children in the City of Tukwila. Nasteha Muse, MBA, Preeti Suryakumar, and I also participated in the Harriet Stephen Business Plan Competition 2022, where we were honored to receive the Social Innovation Award. This recognition was a testament to the impact that Nasteha's work will have on the lives of children and families in her community. I am proud to have been a part of Nasteha's journey and I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
