Back from a very special visit to #TelAviv. Despite the hundreds of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, demolition drones, etc. – aimed at Israel, the #cybersecurity ecosystem is live and thriving. Remarkably, the deal flow appears to be reaching new heights. I was excited to meet with so many friends and colleagues and experience firsthand the inception of some of tomorrow’s greatest ventures in security. Grateful to see everyone and for the inspiring conversations we had. Let's keep pushing boundaries together! There's truly nothing like the energy of live interaction and the exchange of feedback between forward-thinking teams shaping the future of the ‘#cyber industry’ and those who actually implement these ‘ideas’ (and products) in real life. The February 2024 CCL event was amazing. A big thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday. Special thanks to Pynt (Tzvika Shneider, Ofer Hakimi), Tracebit (Andy Smith, Sam Cox , Seal Security (Itamar Sher), and Mobb (Eitan Worcel 🎗, Jonathan Afek) for bringing this fantastic event to life! Some time ago, in early December 2022, when Matan Getz and Adir Gruss took me to a fine Mediterranean lunch in central Tel Aviv, excitedly telling me about their new security venture, something felt right. Many months forward, I am happy to share the fantastic news that this team - Aim Security (formerly Haka), has officially come out of stealth mode with a groundbreaking press release yesterday. At CCL, we are excited about our collaboration with Aim Security and their cutting-edge #AI #security solutions. In the dynamic intersection of innovation, AI, and security, it's clear that these aspects should seamlessly complement each other, providing security teams with crucial visibility and control. As we stand on the edge of the AI ‘’revolution’’, a robust security strategy is needed, and Aim has boldly taken the lead with their #GenAI Security Platform. It is an exciting journey and we’ve only just started. Way to go Matan, Adir and the entire Aim family. Once again many thanks to our friends from YL Ventures and Ofer Schreiber for this great collaboration opportunity

*** Friday #Hampstead tour - 26.1.24 *** Over the past year, I've started a new gig – Curating a #Hampstead sightseeing tour tailored for tech entrepreneurs. Today's tour was an absolute pleasure, joined by some great folks shaping the #devtools and #security #compliance landscapes. Peleg Porat - Founder of Configu: Peleg is one of the masterminds behind Configu, an open-source configuration management solution for streamlining, testing, and automating application configurations across environments. Dor Zilbershtain - CGVO (Chief Good Vibes Officer) at Vendict: Dor, a key contributor to executing Vendict's go-to-market vision. Dor served as the company's first sales leader, lifting this venture from ‘Zero-to-One’, playing a crucial role in establishing Vendict as a tech leader in the automatic security questionnaires response domain. Josh Trup - Investor at Nauta: Bringing a touch of local savviness. Josh, who grew up in Hampstead, shared unique insights and flavours from his own experiences. Josh is definitely one of the most networked #VC investors in London and an owner of an amazingly large dog. Our walk included not just the scenic beauty of Hampstead but also delved into its rich history, touching on literature, culture and commerce. Grateful for this engaging company and the opportunity to blend tech-talk in this picturesque neighborhood. Paz Menshes - Sorry you couldn’t make it this time… Have a great weekend. #HampsteadTechTour CCL

It's with great sadness that I learned of the untimely passing of our friend and colleague Stig Andersson, who died unexpectedly and suddenly last Saturday the 13th. I knew Stig as a vibrant, intelligent, and genuine person, and had the privilege of working with him and counting him among my friends for the last 12 years. Stig is survived by his wife Barbara and daughter, who are devastated by their loss. If you would like to pay your respects, you can do so at the following link, where you'll also find information about the ceremony. https://lnkd.in/dx5n8y5s

Does the fixation on a huge potential Total Addressable Market (#TAM) make sense? or is it merely an overblown obsession among #founders and venture capitalists (#VCs)? The question keeps coming up as founders and VCs delve into the debate around the significance of TAM in a company's success. A recent chat I had with a brilliant, early-stage tech founder highlighted concerns about their product roadmap. The essence of the matter was whether to broaden the product offering to encompass additional, albeit generic, use cases, thereby significantly expanding their TAM. This thought isn't isolated; it mirrors a broader trend where VCs evaluate ventures based on the 'grandiosity' of their TAM, posing the crucial question, "Can it be a $1B company?" However, reality may not align with this TAM-centric approach. For an aspiring $1B company, especially for a founder navigating the early stages, the odds might resemble the likelihood of getting run over by a bus! The counterargument? Prioritise building a #product that authentically addresses real-life problems and provide immediate and specific value to end-users. Our experience in the past few years of investments and work with our portfolio teams reveal a compelling trend — ventures focusing on a rather specific user pain, delivered by a 'deep-tech' technology, with a broader product road map in mind, tend to gain traction far more rapidly than those opting for a broader solution to begin with. What is your take on this? CCL

3yWell it's not the whole AWS, just one region. Ideally that bell's infrastructure should have been duplicated to another region for failover... Or had that company not been acquired by Amazon - they could have gone multi-cloud which is safer but even more expensive than multi-region. But I guess the right answer is to accept the fact that doorbell is not a critical service and the financial cost involved does not justify the duplication as the failure as occurred today are pretty rare :)
