Thank you to all our supporters who made last night’s Hot Pink Party an event that surpassed all expectations and raised a record-breaking $11 million for lifesaving breast cancer research. This year’s event included a musical performance by the legendary Nile Rodgers and was hosted by The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.' Breast Cancer Campaign Global Ambassador Elizabeth Hurley. The evening honored BCRF Board of Directors Co-chair William P. Lauder with the Evelyn H. Lauder Spirit of Philanthropy Award, and Marenda Hughes Taylor received the Roslyn and Leslie Goldstein Unsung Hero Award, presented to her by Kristen Manion Taylor, executive sponsor of the Delta Air Lines-BCRF partnership. As founder of The EAGLE Method, Tami is a motivational speaker who has committed her life to making the most of each day and raising funds to support breast cancer research. She is co-producer of “The Janice Jam: Broadway for Breast Cancer,” a Broadway benefit concert supporting BCRF that's taking place tonight in New York City. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month but BCRF investigators are working to improve outcomes for AAPI women all year long. Although AAPI women are diagnosed with breast cancer less frequently than other racial groups, it is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer in these communities. Unlike other racial groups, they have experienced a rise in breast cancer incidence rates, according to the most recent data available.

Last month, we held a virtual panel exploring the challenges mothers confront when diagnosed with cancer, shedding light on the increasing incidence among women under 50, and what BCRF is doing to address this trend. BCRF staffer, thriver, and mom Sadia Zapp moderated an insightful and heartfelt conversation between BCRF researcher Dr. Ann Partridge of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and parenting expert Marcella Kelson.
