It's time we talk away the dark. Suicide is a topic that hides in the shadows. All too often it goes unaddressed, even when we may sense someone is struggling. It’s time we shed some light on this leading cause of death. In our brand new national public service announcement, we highlight some of the common warning signs for suicide and encourage you to start an open and honest conversation with someone you care about, and connect those at risk to help. Following the launch of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention is proud to launch the innovative Crisis Workforce Road Map, "Sustaining the Crisis Workforce." This revolutionary plan makes recommendations on fundamentally redefining the approach to the crisis workforce. With a focus on recruitment, retention, and support, this strategy equips state and national leaders with the tools to hire and support these vital workers. The Crisis Workforce Road Map was developed among leaders from public- and private-sectors who bring expertise in issues affecting the crisis workforce. It was led by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention with support from UHS, and leadership from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
