Overview

This program is designed to provide an overview of issues that are unique to immigrants in family court proceedings and to offer strategies and resources designed to enhance better practices. Topics will include adverse immigration consequences of family court proceedings, serving documents on parties who reside outside of the United States, challenges in child support proceedings when the litigant does not have work authorization, parental interests directive if your client is detained, and language access.

Presented by Andrea Panjwani, Chief Legal Officer, Center for Safety & Change, this program will benefit attorneys who represent parents, children, family members, and intimate or former intimate partners in family court proceedings.
