The U.S. House (passed a disaster aid bill) today.
Iowa Congressman Abby Finkenauer, a Democrat from Dubuque served as the presiding officer over proceedings this morning.
Finkenauer fired back at a tweet by President Trump last night. It called on House Republicans to not vote for a quote “BAD DEMOCRAT Disaster Supplemental Bill that hurts our States, Farmers, and Border Security.” Finkenauer says “The House is getting it done today for Iowa where the President and US Senate played politics with disasters. She also said it’s “Time to stop the bull.”
The bill passed today would provide more than $17 billion for rebuilding and recovery for Americans impacted by natural disasters in 2017 through 2019.
Members in the U.S. Senate are still negotiating a disaster aid package.
If you are burdened with outmoded laptops, phones or even electronic cords, you can recycle them tomorrow at the Long Lines Family Rec Center. The semi-annual Re-Event is an opportunity to clear out your basements, and for a small fee, recycle your items.
Sioux City’s Environmental Services Analyst Melissa Campbell says they will take old computers as well as a number of other items.

“We’ll also take things like cell phones, cords, old telephones, corded phones, remotes, game consoles, copiers, scanners, scanners, printers, a lot of those common electronic items that maybe people don’t know what to do with.”
Tomorrow's recycling event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Longlines Family Rec Center.
