A Missouri woman, considered the underdog in her race, is bringing home some hardware from the Tokyo Olympics.Courtney Frerichs, a distance runner from Nixa, Missouri, won silver in the 3000 meter steeplechase event.The steeplechase is an endurance run where you are also required to jump over hurdles and a water pit on each lap around the track. Considered the underdog, she came in 11th place in this event in the 2016 Olympics, but ran out ahead of the competition for the 2021 event, leading the pack for much of the race, and holding on for second place. In college, Frerichs ran for UMKC, setting six school records during her time in Kansas City.
