Overview

This fall, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Joanna Newsom will be playing for the first time in a long time in Philadelphia. These will be rare and intimate performances by Joanna alone: solo voice, harp and piano.

Newsom was classically trained on the harp in her youth, and began her musical career as a keyboardist in San Francisco-based indie band The Pleased.  Her song “Sapokanikan”, off her third album Divers, earned her a spot on NPR’s “The 200 greatest songs by 21st century women.” Newsom is known for her lyrical depth and unique vocals and was named “the best-known harpist in American indie music” by Rolling Stone.
