Annually, DHCD finances approximately 2,700 units of multifamily rental housing in 40 properties, amounting to $350 million in construction and permanent financing. Also DHCD, through its flagship program, the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP) assists thousands of Marylanders annually to achieve the homeownership dream. Funding comes from a variety of sources, including state-appropriated funds, taxable and tax-exempt revenue bonds, federal low income housing tax credits, federal HOME funds and other federal funds. Additionally, DHCD administers rental assistance programs and innovative initiatives designed to expand affordable housing opportunities for persons with disabilities, increase the energy efficiency and sustainability of affordable multifamily developments, and preserve rental housing.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.
POSITION DUTIES
The Office of Public Information is seeking a Web Developer Trainee. The main purpose of this position is to maintain the departmental websites, which are a primary means of communication for the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and its divisions. DHCD relies upon the web development and administration team to ensure compliance with State web standards while providing accurate content in a timely manner. To fulfill this mission, the incumbent provides daily support, along with longer-term enhancement projects, for the department’s websites. The incumbent assumes ownership of existing web-enabled systems and is responsible to immediately respond to production problems and outages. The position must assure a high degree of computer system availability and reliability.
Maintenance responsibilities are primarily associated with posting content updates as required by the department and its divisions and ensuring that updates are appropriately positioned, formatted and displayed to State of Maryland web standards. Further maintenance activities involve repairs to broken links to external sites and similar updates as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: None
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of or experience in Content Management System SharePoint, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Visual Basic, or other web-based programming languages
Knowledge of or experience with form builders
Associate's Degree in Web Development, Computer Information Technology or Management Information Systems
