POSITION DUTIES
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) is seeking to hire and train two highly motivated Financial Analyst Trainees. The Financial Analyst Trainee will to learn how to financially manage multi-million dollar grants according to State and Federal regulations. This is a great opportunity for graduates and/or undergraduates with the Finance or Accounting degree to acquire hands-on experience to learn how to consolidate and analyze financial data in accordance with DHCD’s goals and financial standing. The incumbent will learn how to provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance by reading complicated agreements to approve expenditures and draw revenues to ensure compliance with the grant awards. The position will be responsible for drawing funds from the federal system, reconcile accounts, and issue quarterly federal and financial reports.
Successful candidates will have strong computer skills, effective communications skills, and the ability to take the initiative to ask questions to learn and understand the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None.
Notes:
1. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or documented eligibility to sit for the CPA Examination may be substituted for the educational requirement.
2. Candidates may substitute one year of professional financial analysis experience, such as managing financial asset and debt portfolios, examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting, budget, grant or real estate investment portfolio records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles for 30 credits on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
