IFO Equity Caucuses
It is imperative that marginalized faculty are empowered to challenge systemic oppression through innovative and intentional equity and inclusion initiatives. Faculty must be empowered to lead efforts to foster learning communities that respect the inherent worth of all students, faculty, and staff based on values of justice, inclusion, and equity.
We strive for equity within our union to build solidarity and ensure that our collective voice is an inclusive voice.

The Faculty of Color Caucus provides a space to empower and connect faculty of color, American Indian faculty, religious minority faculty, and immigrant faculty regarding racial justice, equity, and inclusion.
Meetings include sharing our experiences, developing a collective vision for the group, and developing strategies for change such as direct advocacy or drafting caucus-related resolutions to the Delegates Assembly for contract, policy, systems, or legislative changes. The Faculty of Color Caucus also advocates for members by electing/ appointing leadership representatives to the Faculty of Color Issues Committee.
The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer + (LGBTQ+) Caucus provides a space to empower and connect LGBTQ+ faculty.
Meetings include sharing our experiences, developing a collective vision for the group, and business items including electing/appointing leadership and LGBTQ+ Committee representatives.
The Women’s Caucus provides a space to empower and connect female-identifying faculty.
Meetings include sharing our experiences, developing a collective vision for the group, and business items including electing/appointing leadership and Feminist Issues Committee representatives.
The Faculty with Disabilities Caucus provides a space to empower and connect faculty with disabilities.
Meetings include sharing our experiences, developing a collective vision for the group, and business items including electing/appointing leadership and Disabilities Advocacy Committee representatives.
About Equity Caucuses
IFO Equity caucuses were developed by faculty to support and organize Faculty of Color and American Indian faculty, Women faculty, LGBTQ+ faculty, and faculty with disabilities statewide, to mobilize their collective voices to improve the working conditions and encourage higher participation in union membership and leadership by marginalized faculty.
The equity caucuses do not require anyone to be elected to participate, and do not require IFO membership. Caucus meetings are held statewide as well as on each individual campus.
