HOUSTON 2036
TASKFORCE ON EQUITY

Because we care about living in a city that invests in its future and values every Houstonian.

Because now is the time for institutional advocacy and projects.

ABOUT

Gather with extraordinary leaders.  Examine the issues.  Design Solutions.  Take action.
Justice Through Equity.
We aspire to be a vital and vibrant city where every Houstonian has a fair chance to build the life they want, without being held back by systemic obstacles or discrimination.  We are creating projects that promote systemic equity.
Transform Houston’s future.
In preparation for the bicentennial of Houston in 2036,  the American Leadership Forum, Dialogue Houston, University of St. Thomas, University of Houston-Downtown are bringing leaders together to create and act upon a powerful vision of social justice for Houston’s future.

The Houston 2036 Taskforce on Equity will be responsible for developing the vision, designing a plan for realizing that vision, and taking collective action to drive measurable change.

For Such a Time As This, We Rise to Play a Greater Part

STEERING COMMITTEE

 & FACILITATORS

STEERING COMMITTEE

PANEL OF CIVIC AND BUSINESS LEADERS

Engaged and Invested.  The Houston2036 Taskforce on Equity Steering Committee has engaged a Panel of social justice advocates.  These advocates can offer to invest financially, their capital, and/or their time. Known for their community impact, focus on social justice, hearts of compassion, and decades-worth of work to improve Houston, these advocates are Houston’s preeminent non-profit, academic, philanthropic, civic, and business leaders.

The Panel will convene, Saturday, June 4, 2022. At this culminating meeting for the taskforce, Taskforce groups will present policy recommendations or special projects to implement in Houston neighborhoods. Each of these projects the Taskforce groups design will respond to local health, education or environment disparities by increasing the focus on equity in these systems.

After considering the six presented projects, the Panel can elect to support the launch of one or more of the projects.
