It started with a drink.

It turned into a promise.

Ransom Scott lost his heart the day the woman he loved chose another man. Or so he thought. Estranged from his brother, distancing himself from the world, he’s been drowning his sorrows in cheap booze and women…determined to forget.

His world is falling apart, until a beautiful woman decides to take a chance on him.

Dani Deviche is as bewitching as she is innocent. Full of youth and vitality, she captivates him. Challenges him. She’s everything Ransom never thought to look for in the opposite sex, and he can’t get enough.

When a promise of friendship turns into something more, can Ransom fulfill his end of the bargain, or will a secret from Dani’s past destroy his last chance at happiness?

**Author’s Note** This book was written as a compliment to the Forbidden Trilogy. However, it can be read as a standalone.

" I thought you weren't supposed to talk to strangers, let alone get into a car with one. "Do you have any candy?" "I'm sure I can think of something to give you to suck on."

With this line in the beginning of a book, you can tell it's gonna be a good one. It didn't disappoint.

Ransom, while drowning his broken heart in liquor, meets Dani. They hit it off right away and he takes her home. Only the next morning he wakes up to discover he blew it being too drunk. Dani, feeling bad and intrigued by him decided to give him a second chance. She wants to be his friend to help him recover from his heartbreak.

The two develop a friendship that moves into love, only to be ripped apart by one little piece of info Dani did not share with Ransom.

Great book. Fast, easy read just in time for Valentines Day. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it won't be the last. I really enjoyed Dani's character. Now Ransom, bugged me at points, he seemed very immature even though he is older. But he made up for it in the end.

This book had me so confused.

Ransom is wallowing in his sadness after the girl of his dreams took off with his identical twin brother. He seeks solace in the arms of either a bottle or a willing woman, sometimes both. When he meets Dani at a bar he has no idea that she might just be the girl to change his life and give him back his happiness.

OK, let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. I was offended by the way feminists were portrayed in this novel. Even though there was a sentence or two to negate it, the over powering message seemed to be that feminists are bitter man haters. It got my hackles up and marred my enjoyment of this book. The second thing that bothered me was Dani. It’s possible the author went for quirky but it just didn’t work for me. At times she tended to wander onto the wrong side of hysterical just a tad and her reactions to certain things seemed irrational which made it difficult for me to relate to her.

Now, the stuff I absolutely loved about this book.

It was, in a word, HILARIOUS! Things rarely went as planned for these two and aside from being extremely funny and a little crazy, it also felt entirely realistic. I loved the fact that it wasn’t all smooth moves and romantic lines – if there was an opportunity for these characters to create chaos or put their foot in it, they jumped in with both.

The chemistry between the characters was on fire but even more than that, Ransom and Dani were so SO sweet together. Ransom had his share of issues and he was incredibly sad but I loved how Dani managed to make him smile and hope again. There is a case of insta-love at play here but as mentioned before, things rarely worked out as planned for these two and it kept it all fresh and exciting.

Aside from the two things I mentioned that affected my rating, all in all I definitely enjoyed this book. I loved the plot and I laughed my ass off many times. It was fast-paced and brimming with plenty or romance but also held some heart-felt emotion.

4.5 "Shower scene stole the show!" stars!

In the Forbidden trilogy, Ransom was the twin brother of Rebel and they both fell in love with the same girl. Their situation was a cacophony of mistakes, confusion, heartaches and learnings. It was an unintended love triangle that wreaked havoc on everyone involved and nearly tore them apart. What I appreciated about them was that no one was intentionally vicious.

Ransom found his ideal woman: smart, beautiful, sexy, talented... and she belonged to someone else. He was left with a broken heart and a crushed ego when she chose his brother over him. Ransom deserved to find his own happines because he was funny, sweet and incredibly forgiving.

Then Dani came into the picture. Her story actually hit a little too close to home. What were the odds that two people who had gone through something similar would end up talking and consoling each other? Misery sure loved company!

So what was supposed to be a night intended for licking their own wounds ended up to be one unforgettable night of hot and unbridled passion. Right?
Wrong! And I loved that it didn't go the way I was expecting it to. It was so much better!

No matter how much I think Ransom deserved to end up with Joe because he was such a nice guy and deserved to get the girl he wanted, Rebel and Joe belonged together. They just fit. You can't go against what was supposed to happen.

It was the same thing I felt about Ransom and Dani. They clicked, and their connection was undeniable. Ransom and Dani together was a glaring proof that he was never meant to be with Joe. Kudos to the author for achieving the hard part of making their story not seem like a rebound hook-up nor a chance to move on. No, Dani wasn't the girl who happened to be there when he was ready to move on. She was the reason why it didn't work out with someone else, because they clearly fit together.

Dani. She had a vivacious character and laughing came easily to her, like nothing could bring her down. She was also gentle and caring. She had set off a spark in him, reminding him of how he used to be. She gave him warmth and happiness he never knew he was missing. She also recognized that Ransom's heart had been broken and his spirit damaged and knew he was desperately searching for something to help him forget. Will she provide that distraction he thought he needed or will she give him something different? Perhaps more?

I think it's almost an instinct for us to look for distractions when going through something. It's easier to seek for temporary solutions than to dig deep on what went wrong because it will open up pains we are not ready to face all over again. Then in our quest for that great escape, we have the chance to meet two kinds of people. One who will give us exactly what we wanted and help us forget, even for just a while. The other one will help us face the inevitable, the necessary, and eventually lead us to something better. The latter part, in a nutshell, was Dani's role in Ransom's life. Her faith and trust in him was his undoing.

Another thing I really liked about this book was that it paved the way for the closures that needed to happen. Ransom's family was awesome and those scenes with them together were light yet hearwarming.

The author did a great job in creating a distinct difference in the twin's personality despite being identical twins, and it showed in their respective books. Whereas Rebel's books were intense, hot and passionate, Ransom's book was lighter, infused with a lot of humor (shower scene was just hilarious!) and for the most part, easy-going. A true reflection of their characters.

Forbidden Valentine is Ransom's story and his journey to finding himself and catching the perfect girl for him along the way.

Ransom Scott is swirling the drain through bitterness for the girl that got away. Well not away, she still is in his life but married to his twin brother and the new mother to twins. As much as he tries to find interest in another woman, he just cant seem to care. That is until he meets Dani Deviche, she is stunning and Ransom figures why not.

The night doesn't quite as expected and Ransom isn't sure what happened, but Dani has a way of making Ransom think about what he is doing with his life in a different perspective. What starts as friends, quickly moves to something more. Ransom thinks things are going well, but when he finds out Dani has a secret, he looks ready to destruct again.

Loved this couple. I thought this had a perfect blend of sensuality, humor, and drama. Ransom is a jaded man and he really has his head in the clouds until Dani comes in. She is like a little dynamo and everything she says and does is with a twist. Looking forward to more in this series.

Once again I feel as if I am the odd man out on a book again.

This isn't working for me whatsoever. I decided to skip the first 3 books as I wasn't really interested in that plot/story. Which was probably for the best.

But this was just lacking in everything. I couldn't connect with Ransom, more with Dani than Ransom. There wasn't a lot of depth especially with Ranson wollowing in self pity but with a flip of a switch, okay 3 days his feelings for Jo are suddenly gone and he is smitten with Dani.

I didn't actually know that this book was part of a trilogy until he was approved in reading it. This is more a case of it is me and not you.

2 stars and DNF % 52. My first DNF of 2016.

This is book four in the 'Forbidden Trilogy" series. I have read the other books in this series but feel you can make this a standalone book, but there is some history in the previous book that might help this book be more enjoyable.
Ransom Scott was in love with his twin's wife... they both were actually dating her at the time but she choose his brother over him. Now his brother is happy married and Ransom seems to only be drowsing his sorrows in alcohol. Then he meets Dani Deviche who is innocent, beautiful, sexy and full of life. Dani takes a chance with him on friendship but that does seem to lead to other things.
This was a sweet, hot book that I did enjoy having the chance to read.

Ransom has been wallowing in his despair, using alcohol to fill his time in between his teaching career and the little sleep he gets. He's not living up to his potential, he's not inspiring his students, and he certainly isn't over the loss of Joe, the girl his twin brother now calls his wife. Then there's Dani, the girl from the bar he takes home on a whim, who puts up with his antics when all she knows is his first name. She brings out a change in him, he's willing to face his family, his past, if it means making her his future. Dani is a little to close to home though and when secrets start unfolding there's a chance Ransom and Dani aren't meant to be at all.

This book totally took me by surprise, because the title made me think it would be about something completely different and the synopsis only gave away just enough. Turns out, Forbidden Valentine is a tale of all sorts of taboo/forbidden subjects in the world of student, work, and family. It's a quick read with engaging characters and a really unique plot. While both characters at times made me frustrated, I loved their friendship to lovers relationship, the angst they both had to individually face, and the drama they faced as a couple. They have the kind of chemistry that just works, as a reader you can feel how they bring out the best in one another. While it's a short read, for fans of the Forbidden trilogy it is the closure for a character they grew to love, and sometimes hate. Ransom was at times immature and other times the character I wanted most to hug and provide comfort too. His downward spiral and then slow climb to health was enjoyable to read, because it felt natural. Dani, our quick witted heroine, made me laugh often and while her innocence often didn't make sense to me, she was the gentle caring comfort that Ransom needed, as well as the steamy lover.

While Forbidden Valentine was an enjoyable read, nothing jumped off the pages for me. Some of the plot points that could have built up more fireworks were easily pushed to the side and the general ease in which most drama was dealt with felt very casual. Additionally, while this is listed as a standalone, I do think the prior trilogy plays far too important of a role for readers not to read it first. Understanding who Ransom was and what brought him to his downfall is too important to the overall story and that history makes his character. Additionally, I don't think Dani's past was explored enough and I could have read a longer novel if it meant understanding her more. While I loved them together, Forbidden Valentine doesn't build them up as individual characters, more as just a couple only.

Forbidden Valentine is a great book for the season or anytime of the year, it's full of laughs, smut, and characters you'll be rooting for. It's about letting go, facing your fears, and acceptance. I will absolutely continue to read J.C. Valentine novels.

" Forbidden Valentine", was incredible ! If you have read the Forbidden Trilogy, then just like me you have been awaiting this story! JC Valentine has given us Ransom's story an did not disappoint!
To recap quickly, Ransom has an identical twin brother Rebel and both brothers wind up meeting and falling for the same women unknown to each other; and since the brothers may look alike but are temperament different and Josephine sees them both in different surroundings , she does not piece together till very late in that she had been involved with both brothers. In the end Josephine picks Rebel and they fit together well; however the whole affair has left Ransom a broken man.
Since then, the very handsome but heartbroken Ransom Scott has been avoiding his family, especially his happy brother and sister -in-Law he spends his time drinking and womanizing.
That is until he meets the very beautiful, sexy Dani Deviche, much like Ransom Dani is dealing with heartbreak and meeting Ransom is her first time getting out and getting up on the the proverbial horse again. After all how can Dani resist a man who will banter back and forth with her at ease and suggestively.
“Are you sure? I thought you weren’t supposed to talk to strangers, let alone get into a car with one.” “Do you have candy?” she said with a laugh. “I’m sure I can think of something to give you to suck on.”
It is clear that alcohol brings out more more the "Rebel" side in Ransom! Statements like above lead to the one night stand take home, just such a shame Ransom drank so much, which he determines the next morning is probably for the best because it is more than obvious to Ransom that Dani is not the one night stand type of girl , more like the put a ring on it type.
Shame he can not get her out of his head, he winds up pursuing Dani and they get involved, hell before he knows it Dani heals his heart and becomes more than just a fling, heck for Dani , she trusts and cares so much for him; Ransom was her first, she gave him her virginity, after which these two are heating up the sheets and the rooms , to spite both still being Leary, Dani more so , but she is enjoying learning about her sexuality . And leave it to JC to have you laughing too.
“Something’s…wrong,” Ransom said, the apprehension in his voice worrying her. “What do you mean?” she asked cautiously, meeting his uneasy gaze. Her stomach pinched, wondering what could possibly have him reacting this way. “I—I think I’m…stuck.” As if to demonstrate, he gave an experimental draw of his hips, and for the first time, she felt the disturbing fullness...
To spite their happiness, bumps in the road present themselves and weeks of hurt and heartache between these two ensue. I could go on and on , but I would just wind up giving away more of this wonderfully long awaited story!
So do not miss out!

4.5 How Can You Mend a Broken Heart Stars!

"Broken hearts mend. And a broken heart is proof that it wasn't meant to be." Those were the words of wisdom ingrained in Ransom Scott from a young age by his mother. The woman he loved had chosen his brother Rebel and though deep down he knew it was for the best, his ego thought otherwise. Left to dwell in loneliness and self pity, Ransom felt like the biggest loser of an emotional musical chairs that was doomed from that start. His life was spinning on a downward spiral heading towards rock bottom and alcohol had become his most loyal companion until her.

'Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. -Alfred Lord Tennyson

Daniella Deviche may be young and inexperienced in the realm of men and intimacy but she is far from simple-minded. The college grad is on the fast to achieving partner status at the accounting firm she is employed for. Unfortunately, her personal life hasn't quite received the memo to be on par with her professional success. Nursing a broken heart laced with betrayal at the hands of someone close, she ends up at a bar attempting to find some much needed distraction. A natrual care giver she takes one look at Ransom and is not only drawn to his good looks but also the solemn vibe he was exuding. Not one to normally partake on the wild side of life, she decided to flip the script and take a chance on a stranger.

A promise was made, one that elicited a reaction more thrilling than any sexual encounter Ransom ever had. Falling for someone like Dani was the most natural thing he ever did. Beautiful inside and out, she was the catalyst to jump start his heart and give him hope for a bright future. With their whirlwind affair, details were left untold that threatened to jeopardize their newfound happiness.

J.C. Valentine delivers a cleverly written and wildly funny conclusion to Ransom Scott's tumultuous tale of love and loss. I fell in love with this book from the very first line. The author's writing style masters the elements of wit, steam and romance resulting in a wonderfully entertaining story. Getting a glimpse into Joe and Rebel's married life was icing on the cake. Looking back on the Forbidden Trilogy I am pleasantly surprised with how perfectly everything turned out. All I know for sure is that Mr. Scott has stolen my heart.

Forbidden Valentine (Forbidden Trilogy #4) by J.C. Valentine

Ransom Scott lost the woman he thought he was in love with to his identical twin brother. He also lost the strained relationship he and his brother shared. He spent most of his life competing with Rebel when they were younger. When they grew older and discovered they had the same taste in women it wasn’t long before Ransom was grabbing up Rebel’s leftovers. Rebel was a playboy throwing away woman once he got bored. Ransom assumed the same would happened with Josephine but it never did. She turned out the be the woman who finally tamed the Rebel. But where did that leave Ransom? Alone and pinning for a woman who never really loved him—she always loved his brother. Drowning himself in alcohol and loneliness Ransom assumes he will never find happiness. Then Dani Deviche comes into his life over a drink at a bar. He is drawn to her innocence, yet she is so full of light and life he can’t help but want to be in her presence. She makes him want to be a better man. Dani can’t imagine a guy like Ransom wanting her, but when they start up a flirtatious conversation at a bar she decides to go for it. After the recent break up with her longtime boyfriend she could use a little reckless fun. However, the night doesn’t quite go as she planned, but the morning after promises to be so much more.

I can’t say enough about this book! Ransom was fantastic, sexy, romantic, sweet and brooding. Dani was innocent, light and love I just adored her. I knew from the start that Ransom and Jo didn’t belong together in the previous series. I was so excited when I heard J.C. Valentine was giving Ransom his story. Dani could not be more perfect for him in every way. She wants to fix him like she fixes everything else around her but she realizes that he has to do the work too. The chemistry was off the charts, there are many tender moments between these two. There are also some downright raunchy moments and I loved them all. There is a shower scene that was just great I couldn’t help but laugh.

I read the Forbidden Trilogy but you can read Ransom and Dani’s story without reading the previous trilogy and you will not be lost. Though I do recommend Rebel and Josephine’s story. I have to say I might like Ransom’s story better—sorry Rebel, ha ha.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

So far I have only read J. C. Valentine's holiday novella Noel: A Blue Collar Christmas, but I greatly enjoyed reading her short and steamy story. When I was given a chance to read Forbidden Valentine, I didn't waste any time! This is the fourth book in the Forbidden series and even though it can be read as a stand alone, I felt like I would have better enjoyed the book if I had started at the beginning with Dance with Me, Forbidden #1. This book is the result of fans begging for J. C. Valentine to give Ransom, the jilted twin brother, his happy ever after. Ransom and Dani are hot, funny, and a unique couple to say the least. Some of the sexy situations that they have left me filled with laughter and shaking my head. J. C. Valentine brings this series to a close with a heart warming, steamy story that will knock your socks off and give you a gift better than chocolates and flowers this Valentine's season.

Ransom Scott is a sexy professor on a collision course to self destruct after the heart break of a lifetime. He didn't get the girl, and so now has a broken relationship with his twin brother and wants nothing more than to hide from life and drown himself with women and alcohol. After meeting the alluring Dani Deviche he finds himself hoping for a better life with this new women that captivates him. As the story unfolds desires ignite, drama ensues, and hearts are mended. Or are they? Even though at times Ransom infuriated me, I still love his alpha male tendencies. He can make a reader shake their head in disapproval, fan themselves in need of cooling off, and set their heart aflutter. What more can you ask for in a leading male? He kept things heated and interesting.

Dani was so easy to like. Even though she is beautiful, she has insecurities like every other women and she made me laugh! She is sexy without even realizing and intelligent with a heart of gold. I love heroines that are strong willed, smart, and irresistible!

J. C. Valentine delivers a sexy conclusion to her Forbidden series that not only gives Ransom his happy ever after but her fans a new couple to clamor over. I recommend for a steamy read that will also tickle the funny bone from time to time.

Before I say anything about this book, I'd like to just take a moment and thank J C Valentine for providing us with Ransom's HEA. If you've read the trilogy thus far, then you understand my words of thanks. If you haven't, you just have to trust me that he very much deserved a HEA :) And what a ride this turned out to be!!

Sidenote: Altho the blurb suggests that this book can be read as a standalone, I very very very much differ in opinion. LOL To fully understand how Ransom got to the broken place he is today, you have to read the journey that helped him get there ...so you have to read the trilogy in order (sorry) ... but I promise, it is well worth it! #TRUST

Ok then, let's talk about Ransom Scott and Dani Deviche. So Ransom was dealt a pretty bad blow that knocked him off balance and he pretty much decided to stay down there ... at rock bottom. Cue, Dani Deviche .... high on life and full of sunshine and pretty flowers. But not all that glitters and shines is actually gold ... you know the saying, right? Well Dani fits that saying. Because for every smile she puts on, she has a scar inside to match it. They are both coming from the same place in life ... the difference is, that Dani wants to live again but Ransom is finding it hard to find something to live for ... but maybe not anymore :)

What should have been a one night hooked up, turns into a beautiful friendship that allows both our leads to feed from each other in order to grow. J C Valentine once again created a tale of two tortured souls that perfectly fit each other. As their friendship grows, so does their bond. A bond that neither even realized was exactly what they wanted and needed out of life and the future.

I'm gonna be honest and say that I was mostly on Team Ransom when I read the trilogy before this story. I honestly thought that Ransom would have made a better match for Joe...but you know what, I was wrong lol because he makes a perfect match for Dani :)

Read this story. Read this trilogy. This story on its own is beautiful and heartfelt and extremely joyous. Add the trilogy before it and you've got yourself one hell of a wild roller-coaster ride!

I couldn't wait to get stuck into Ransom's story, I was so excited to hear where his life went after everything that happened with him, Joe and Rebel.

I read this book in the space of a few hours, I ignored everyone and everything and just read this straight through, I couldn't get enough of Ransom and Dani. I loved the fact that we got to hear Ransom's POV, I wish we had of got some of the male povs in the previous books!

I was a little dubious going into this book, I want sure how Ransom was going to be portrayed and I was worried I would end up hating him. All that worry was for nothing though since I loved him from the beginning of this story.

Ransom had his heart broken and felt betrayed by his brother since they were both in love with the same woman. Then he meets Dani and realises how wrong he was.

Dani was an amazing heroine for me, I loved her completely. She was so smart, strong, sassy and had a good sense of humour. I loved this fact that she pushed her way into Ransom's life and showed him he was worthy!

This book blew the forbidden trilogy out of the water for me. I was happy to see a little of Rebel and Joe in this story, it's always good to hear where couples end up after their stories.

This book was a brilliant conclusion to the Forbidden series. J.C Valentine had me hooked from the very beginning and I'm sad this is the end of these characters.

I'm happy to see Ransom get the HEA he deserves. He was such a great guy when he was introduced in the previous books. The complete opposite to Rebel, he was the kinder, gentler man of the twin duo and he needed a woman that would appreciate that.

Josephine wasn't the right woman for him and was the perfect match for Rebel, so poor Ransom spent years drowning his sorrows. He took it really hard and needed someone special enough to see past all that and really see him for who he was.

Dani was that woman. She was a bit younger, but far more mature for her age. Having sped through parts of her life so quickly, she was already settled in a career by the time she crossed paths with Ransom.

Dani was a sweet woman with a strong caregiver gene. Having had bad luck in past relationships, she still wasn't a jaded person. Not like Ransom was after his whole triangle past with Joe and Rebel.

Together, they got to know each other and started a friendship as she worked to try and "fix him". She saw him as a great guy and didn't like how sad he was.

The story was slow and steady and the characters were a perfect match for each other...right off the bat. But it felt "off" for me. With the plot twists and turns delivered in the previous books, I felt a bit blasé while I read this story. It was good, it just didn't grip or entice me. I continued to read, for the closure having Ransom's story provided.

Why haven't I read anything by JC Valentine before? I'm pretty sure she's on my TBR. I'll be finding the rest of her stuff because I really liked this!

Apparently this was the conclusion to a trilogy that Ransom was a major character in. As stated before, I haven't read anything by this author, so I didn't read the trilogy, but I didn't feel lost at all. In fact, the plot of the trilogy was explained and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked Ransom once bit from the way they talked LOL But not knowing first hand how things went, I met Ransom at a low point where he's drinking to dull the pain of heart break and I loved him and all his broken pieces.

Dani was such a breath of freshness. She was smart and caring and while she knew Ransom looked good and had a goodness to him underneath, she was more concerned with helping him get to a better place than to jumping into a serious relationship.

There were some laugh out loud moments in here - I'm talking about the shower scene. If you read this and don't laugh at that *shakes my head* I spit my diet Mt Dew out reading that :) There were also some scenes that brought tears to my eyes and I wanted to shake the stuffing out of Ransom.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this and can't wait to dive into something else by JC Valentine.

Holy Hell I love a good love story but I love a love story where the couple has to fight for what they want. This story is all that and more. I was so excited to be offered to read an ARC copy that I dam near jumped out of my bed. I have read a few books by J.C. and she is one kick arse writer. So I knew I was going to be getting a story and so much more.

Ransom Scott is just living his life day by day. He once loved so hard that it broke him when it disappeared. After losing the love of his life he decides to live his life reckless. He lives day to day drinking and going through women until he meets a girl that just might change his life and give him back the love he so craves to have.

Dani is a good girl who lives life to the fullest. She is so full of life that the minute you see her it brings a smile to your face because you know you are about to get roses. So when she meets bad boy Ransome she is determined to save him and challenge him to be a better guy. She shows him that not all women are out to hurt men but they are out to love them and love them hard.

But what happens when the one you love has a secret and that secret could destroy the relationship. Do you run or do you stay and work it out? This is what Ransom will have to decide. Will he leave or love Dani through all her secrets and lies?

Back when the original Forbidden series came out, I loved the first three so much that I didn't want to read this one. The first three were so intense and I didn't think I could read Ransom's story with someone else when he had been so in love with Joe. But, I was stupid because Forbidden Valentine is awesome!

Ransom is a bitter man at the start of Forbidden Valentine. He's drowning his sorrows at a bar when he meets a beautiful sweetheart and he takes her home. Alas, he didn't get his hot night because well, you know drinking that much tends to get in the way of having fun when it makes you pass out. But, Dani is a sweetheart, and the one who will change everything for Ransom, so she sticks around to lighten him up, lighten his life a little after having his heart broken when Joe chose Rebel.

And that's the crux of why Forbidden Valentine is such a great read. Yes, Joe chose Rebel and broke Ransom's heart. But you know what? She wasn't really the one for him, and when he falls in love with sweet spirited Dani, he realizes that. Well, after some mishaps and misstarts and a serious oops on his part. But, what's a good romance without a few bumps along the way?

Forbidden Valentine is everything the first three weren't. It's much more fun and not nearly as intense. It's still sexy and steamy, but it's got a lightness that the trilogy didn't have. And finally, finally, Ransom's given some healing with his family and within himself, all thanks to his lovely Dani. Dani is what made Forbidden Valentine for me. Yes, I love Ransom, always have throughout the whole series, but Dani is the light, and a more than equal match for him. I'm hitting myself over the head for not having read Forbidden Valentine when it was first released. But, thank God I was given a chance to review this whole series upon its re-release, because I loved Forbidden Valentine and I was so glad to see Ransom get the girl, the perfect woman for him!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

So this story is about Ransom and his time to find love. He finds himself a sweet and innocent virgin named Dani. After everything that Ransom put Joe and Rebel through I don't know if he deserved someone like Dani. BUT everyone deserves a second chance I guess. And that is what Ransom gets.

I enjoyed seeing Ransom getting his happy ending. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy for my honest review.

This book was such a funny Valentine- full of emotional depth, humor, passion, and angst. This is the conclusion to a trilogy that Ransom was a major character in. As I didn’t read the other two books, I am coming “late to the party’ so to speak but I can pick up pretty well what is going on in this book. Ransom is a twin to Rebel and they fell in love with the same woman named Joe but disaster occurred- That particular woman ended up falling for Rebel- instead of it being a clear case, it was a time of confusion and disaster. Think Love Triangle and this is what it was because two men fighting for the love of one woman and Ransom didn’t get her, Rebel did. It ended up nearly killing the brothers who had been so close before her and Ransom left his brother and his new woman. Left with a broken heart and took himself off to figure out what happened and why.
Into his self-imposed exile which includes some overindulging behavior ( heavy drinking as one) comes Dani-she is a breath of fresh air and is so sweet. She sees/ meets Ransom out one night while he was out drinking , she ends up trying to get to know him, sees him to recognize that he too has been hurt and attempts to get to know him. There is a chemistry between the two which connects them and their relationship is very complicated. Because Ransom has been hurt by a woman before, he refuses to let Dani into his life and his heart so easy. When they finally get to bed, Ransom finds out she is a virgin and OMG the sex scenes are HOT and so good. Now there are some secrets that Dani has in her past that do not get told to Ransom and when he finds out, he blows a gasket. Its not like he tells Dani all his past secrets but for whatever reason, he holds her past against her. I kind of can understand why Ransom was upset that she did not tell him but to have that HUGE of reaction, that was over the top. That to me was extreme. Dani has some trouble with trust, especially with what happened with her with ex-boyfriend and step sister. That there would make me have huge trust issues so I can understand in a way but again, everyone handles things differently. Will Dani’s holding out a past secret be the cause for Ransom walking away for good? Will Dani finally lose heart or will she fight for her man? These are all great reasons to read the final book in the trilogy.
I loved Dani and Ransom- this couple had been hurt in love’s game in the past and to meet and feel that instant connection was awesome. Both thought their previous partners’ were Mister/Ms. Right but they were so wrong. They were NOW with their perfect partner and what happened in the past happened to put them in the perfect place to accept love now. Weird as it sounds, this is who they were meant for. Dani is so sweet, fiery and perfect for Ransom; while Ransom is dominant, alpha, strong and so sweet when it comes to Dani. They are right for each other..I do not get the feeling they were that way for anyone else. The ending was the sweet topping on the book.

My rating: 4.6 stars *****

After having her heart stomped on Dani Deviche sets out on a mission to find a man who can help her erase the hurt...even if it is only for one night. Finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her hurt, but to find out that the person he was cheating with was her own flesh and blood was downright devastating, and the pain she is suffering is almost unbearable, she just wants to make it go away. Her friends suggest the best way to do that is to get under a new man and have herself a one night stand, which sounds promising but also terrifying, especially to someone with her experience level. When they hit the bar she spots the perfect man for the job, although she has her doubts about him, he seems like he is completely out of her league, but her friends convince her to go for it...so she does. But once she meets him she starts to see that he isn't so different from her at all, he too has had his heart broken, and he is in desperate need of saving, and Dani thinks she is the perfect woman for the job. Now she just has to convince him that she can save him...

Ransom Scott thought he found the perfect woman, but he was wrong by a long shot, she may have been perfect, but she was meant for someone else...his own twin brother. Losing her to him was completely devastating, and the pain he is feeling now is almost suffocating. He drowns himself in alcohol hoping that the pain will just go away, but all he is doing is numbing it momentarily...it always returns the next morning with a vengeance. He is a very driven man, one who is use to always getting what he wants, and so losing her to his brother, makes it so much worse, because now she will always be there as a constant reminder of the one thing he couldn't have...and it aggravates him. He knows he needs to move on and let her go, but he isn't so sure he is ready to put himself back out there again... that is until he meets a beautiful girl at the bar that completely slays him... not only does she understand his pain, but she wants to save him from it, the question is can he let her in, and can he let someone that close again?

The minute I started reading Ransom and Dani's story it grabbed a hold of me and would not let go, I was instantly addicted and left with the insatiable urge to know more... even if it meant staying up all night to find the answers I so desperately needed. It has been a while since I have read a story that completely captured my attention, and consumed me the way this story did, I was barely a chapter into this one and I immediately felt myself being pulled into Dani and Ransom's world and left completely entranced by every written word. This is my first experience with Ms. Valentine's work and all I can say is WOW!!, her writing completely took me by surprise, and had me immediately regretting not reading something by her until now. Definitely one the best first reads I have had in a while, highly recommend you give it try, it is sure to pull you in and keep you captivated long after the last page is turned!

Review

description

It’s pretty much a given that if it’s a book by this author, I’m picking it up. But it’s even more powerful of a need when it comes to Ransom and him getting the happily ever after I wanted for him throughout the original trilogy.

The happily ever after until Rebel got under my skin that I thought for sure he was going to come out the victor on in the trilogy, but that was not to be.

I love this character. Even in this story where he’s nursing the loss of what he believed to be the love of his life, and to his identical twin no less and was more on the darker side, I wanted him happy. And by the time this book is done, he has that and more.

Not only was this a book about him finding happiness and love, it was also about fixing the damage with his family as well. What had torn the two brothers apart, what had kept him drowning himself in booze when the story first picks up, it was a nice touch by the author having this be a part of it. It felt like a real and true ending, for everyone, even though it was primarily focused on Ransom.

This story had a lot of the elements I find in all of the authors work—a fast paced read with engaging characters despite the length of the story being shorter than ones that came before it and I was sucked in just as deeply in this shorter tale as I`ve been in the past with a lot of her others. I enjoyed the interactions with Ransom, Dani and his family the most. They were as humorous as they were engaging, but there was no part better written than the one that takes place between Dani and Ransom alone. (Shower scene anyone?)

My only real complaint with this story was that for me, it was too short. I guess given my love of Ransom, I just wanted it to be a bit longer than it was. I wanted more. But I’m greedy like that, so whatever. Lol

In the end, it delivered on a happily ever after, plenty of serious moments, a steam level I’ve come to enjoy with this authors stories and just the right touch of humor to make it a great read. And really, what more can you ask for than that.

My only piece of advice is, that while Ransom does kind of standalone in the way it’s written, you should really go back and read the books before it to truly understand what brings the man to the point he’s at when you first meet him. If anything, you’ll find yourself as bewitched by the twins as I was and you can’t go wrong with that.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before its official release. It was the perfect ending to what turned out to be a truly engaging series.

Title:Forbidden Valentine
Author: J.C. Valentine
Series: Forbidden Series, Book #4
Publisher: J.C. Valentine
Release Date: February 16, 2016
Genre(s): Contemporary Romance
Page Count:
Heat Level: 5 flames out of 5
Rating: 5 stars out of 5
Blurb:

“‘You’re mine now, Dani. You’re the only woman I’ve ever allowed in my home, in this bed, and after tonight, you’re the last one I want in her.’ He lifted her hand, flattening her palm over her heart. ‘I may not be any good for you, but you’re damn well perfect for me.’”

5 forbidden stars! To say I’m obsessed with this series, would be a complete understatement!!

Ransom Scott has just lost his dream woman to his identical twin brother. Not to mention his relationship with his brother is now over, if not totally strained. He’s now drinking his troubles away, and assumes that he’ll never find his own true love. That is until Dani walks into the bar one night and they bond over drinks. He’s instantly captivated by her beauty and light and wants to start being a better man because of her. Deciding to spend the rest of the night together turns out to be a lot different than they had hoped for but the next morning is so much more!!

My heart actually broke for Ransom after Josephine picked Rebel over him. I mean how could it not!!! Then when I started reading this and seeing that finally Ransom is going to get some vindication I did a happy dance!! I love this series so much and I can’t get enough….I want more!

•Unforgivingly Broken-hearted
Forbidden Valentine by J.C. Valentine is four and final installment to the Forbidden trilogy! (But can be read as a Stan alone). My Oh My it's just as hot and steamy as you'd expect! I cannot pick which one of the three I like the best, but they'll definitely all be added to my TBRA (to be read again) bookshelf.
Ransom still cannot believe Joe chose Rebel instead of him, he was supposed to WIN! He LOVED her, why couldn't she love him too? Ransom has turned away from anything to do with his family so he doesn't have to see her, to drinking and random women but nothing lifts him from the foggy funk he's in. That is until he sees her...... Dani is a naturally beautiful woman (just like Joe). *She wasn’t just beautiful though. She was magnificent. She doesn't require a gallon of makeup and he finds himself wanting to get to know her.
Dani decided to go out with some of her college girlfriends to help get over her two timing lower than life now ex-boyfriend of 4 years, who was not only cheating on her BUT with her SISTER!!! How worthless, they both deserve each other!! While drinking her liquid courage, she notices how down Ransom looks and after her liquid encouragement she says *“Well, I’ll be…What are the odds that two people such as us, with such similar backgrounds, would end up here, in the same place, licking the same wounds, on Halloween?”* Before he leaves the bar, she finds the encouragement to tell him to take her home with him. She's not usually that bold. What happens when they get to Ransoms place? Will Ransom be able to move past Joe and finally be happy? How will Dani handle everything that's thrown her way? Do they both have too much baggage to move past the hurt and rejection or can the get over that hump and finally allow themselves to be happy? You'll have to read Forbidden Valentine to find out, but I promise it'll be worth every word! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Favorite passages:
•Holy hell. He was suddenly at a loss for words, his tongue sticking to the roof of his mouth, his jeans straining behind his fly. He stared into a pair of honey gold eyes rimmed with coal, the gears in his brain grinding to a halt and, suddenly, he couldn’t recall what brought him to the bar or why he’d been feeling like a steaming pile of shit. All he knew was the curious sensation bubbling in his chest now, the lightness in his head overpowering the booze he’d been trying to pickle himself in, and the inexplicable need that coursed through his veins, turning his blood into molten lava.
•Tunneling her fingers through his hair, Dani formed a tight grip, intending to pull him away, only to hold him closer as his warm, wet mouth found the top of her breast. The way he lavished her body with attention, feasting on every inch of her flesh with an almost feral passion, was addictive.

I am so pleased we got this book, a chance to see what the future holds for Ransom after the s***storm that went down between him and his brother.
Walking away after losing the woman that his heart wanted to spend the rest of its life with, Ransom is on a path that is leading to one place and one place only…self-destruction.
Swimming through the haze that accompanies the vat of alcohol that he is slowly trying to drown his sorrows in, is the only way he is able to make it through each and every day. Thinking is too much like hard work, he is happy just to exist, that is until Dani.
Dani is in a similar situation to Ransom, her boyfriend decided that he preferred her sister and that put paid to what they had going on, they were two souls cut from the same cloth and bound together by the devastation that being betrayed by a sibling can inflict.
I suppose she really did know what Ransom had swilling around in his head, and not just the liquor!
Dani caught Ransom unawares one night in the bar and remarkably he caught me unawares too because he was actually quite chatty and while she may have been hurtling towards her own drunken oblivion, she enjoyed his company and once they got to know each other a little better, it certainly looked like things might just lighten up for a little while.
I loved fact that despite what he had been through, he was completely resolute in the fact that she was in his life for a reason, being without her was not an option in his mind. Their relationship was littered with secrets and challenges, potholes and pitfalls that seemed to be trying to slip them up but the author had them working hard for their happy ever after and I was rooting for them all the way.
Ransom deserved to be happy, not that Dani didn’t but I had a history with him that I wanted to see him fulfil, I have suffered with him in his past and I didn’t want to define him any longer, he had to learn to leave it all behind him and Dani was the woman that made that worthwhile.
This is a story about learning to let go, about cutting yourself a break and embracing what life hands you, about being who you are meant to be when you are meant to be it and refusing to allow the negativity of something you could never have changed to be responsible for destroying your future.
I loved my time with Dani and Ransom, they have a lesson to teach and they do it well

First, I have to say I'm so happy that J.C. decided to give Ransom his story. I floved this book and was so excited to get to know Ransom more. This was a fantastic story and you don't have to read the other books to read this one as it's a spin off. You do get a HEA and you get some characters from Rebel's book in this one. Overall, a must read story!

Dani has a past that she isn't to proud of and she is learning to do better. She was always a smart girl growing up and surpassed everyone in school. When she goes into a bar one night, she meets Ransom and can't help the attraction she has for him. She is a fixer and sees that Ransom is broken but she believes that she will be able to fix him. The more time that Dani spends with him, the more she falls for him. She has secrets but she knows that Ransom has to overcome some things in order for them to continue however she isn't so sure he will.

Ransom has never had an easy life especially being an identical twin. He has done some bad things and always went after Rebel's ex's as they never knew that he was a twin and not Rebel. When he gets heart broken by the woman he loves, he is completely destroyed and doesn't know how to move on. When he meets Dani, weird things start happening to him and he can't help but continue to see her as he wants to know where these feelings will go. The more time he spends with her, the more he wants to open up and not have anything come between them. Only Ransom makes a mistake and it could cost him losing Dani.

The characters have a strong connection with each other and you can feel the heat from it. The spark gets hotter the more they are together but a bond forms between them without them knowing. A love forms but neither of them say anything and when battles are thrown, only time will tell how it ends. Different emotions will come into play but overall an amazing story that you will love.

Great job to the author, I highly recommend.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we get Ransom's story after loosing Joe to Rebel. We are also introduced to a woman named Dani. Ransom is not taking loosing the girl to his brother very well. He is drinking all the time and has lost his passion for everything. Until one night while out at a bar he meets Dani and there is just something about her that makes him feel something again. He isn't sure if it is because he has had to much to drink or if he is starting to have real feelings for someone again. The more time he spends with Dani the more he wants to be a better man again. But will old fears drive them apart or will they open Ransom up to something amazing?

Dani isn't looking for anything long term when she sees Ransom. However her need to fix people takes over and the more she talks to him that night the more she wants to help him. Dani isn't sure she is in the right place to help him but she knows she has to try. There is a part of her that wonders if his hurts and pains are more than she can help him with though. Dani knows she carries some secrets of her own but her past is painful to. When her secrets come to light will she find a safe place in Ransom or just another piece of her heart gone for good?

This is an amazing story in the Forbidden Trilogy. We finally see what happens to Ransom after it is all said and done. We also see what Joe choosing Rebel has done to the brother's relationship. This book reminded me of why I originally was a fan of this series and will make you want to read the first three if you haven't already. This author has given us another amazing hit that will have you looking for all of her books to find out what she has to offer. This book will show us though there is pain sometimes with the loss of what you thought was your true love there is more out there. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I love J.C. Valentine's writing and this one does not disappoint her readers as well. Such a great read and I am so glad that we get to see more of what happened to Ransom in this one. J.C. Valentine has a way of capturing your attention and making you fall in love with her characters from the beginning of every story. I know that once I start one of her books, I will be occupied until I finish it. They are all that good!!

Ransom is still trying to get over loosing what he thinks was the love of his life to his twin brother. Ransom is drinking his sorrow away and doesn't care about too much in his world at the moment. When someone slips up behind him one night at the bar, Ransom is taken by surprise and sits to talk with her. He learns that her name is Dani and she is at the bar to drown her problems away as well. Dani's boyfriend cheated on her with her sister. What a coincidence that they are both there for a similar reason and that it is all in their families. When Dani and Ransom get to know each other a little more, their night begins to look a little better.

Ransom is surprised that Dani has caught his attention because she is not what he usually goes for in a woman, but sometimes change is good. When Ransom discovers some information about Dani, he knows that he is going to make her his. There are some smoking hot romantic scenes in this story and then there are some that are laugh out loud funny! Poor Dani!! I love that J. C. incorporated humor into this story as well. As things progress for Dani and Ransom, will secrets that come out of one of their past's break up what they have fought to build between each other. I was rooting so hard for then because of Ransom. I wanted him to find his HEA. You need to read this one to see what happens for these two. This story is about finding true love and realizing that your past has to be in the past. Thanks J.C. Valentine for giving us a little more Ransom!

I really enjoyed reading Forbidden Valentine. I had not read the other books in the Forbidden series so I went into this not quite grasping the backstory for the book's hero, Ransom. But it didn't matter, the author filled in the blanks and before long I understood his very painful past.

See once upon a time Ransom and his twin brother fell in love with the same girl. This unintentional love triangle worked out really well for Rebel but it left Ransom incredibly angry and bitter. He's completely lost faith that there is someone out there for him and he now believes that he is somehow a lesser man because Rebel walked away with the only woman he thinks he'll ever love.

So when Ransom stumbles upon Dani while he's intoxicated at the bar, he's completely surprised at how much she captures his attention and how she ignites his desire to make her his. Suddenly feeling more alive than he has in months, Ransom cannot stay away from Dani even though he believes that he has nothing to truly offer her. However, Dani sees who Ransom truly is and realizes that he is a man worth taking a chance on and loving.

They both understand feeling betrayed and it bonds them together. Their friends to lovers story is an excellent and highly entertaining read. Both characters are captivating and easily likeable. You want them to figure everything out and to get their happily ever after.

It is all kinda awesome but I think what I liked most about this book was that it just left me feeling happy and smitten with Ransom and Dani. Their romance was fun read and I was absolutely consumed by their story in Forbidden Valentine - it made me want to go back and the Rebel's books, too.

Forbidden Valentine is a must read - I completely suggest you check this book out even if you have not read the previous books.

The Forbidden Trilogy is one of those that sticks to your mind. The ending is near perfect except for the lingering question of "what happens to Ramsom now"? This complement to the Trilogy answers that question as well as bringing closure.

Ramsom has lost the love of his life to his identical twin Rebel. He is devastated and starts to drown his sorrows in alcohol and women. This has an adverse effect on his family, including Rebel and his wife, Joe.

Dani has just found out that her boyfriend of four years has been cheating on her with her step sister! On an evening out with her friends to drown her own sorrows, she comes across Ramsom. She is kind hearted and seeing Ramsom in this sorry state, she has this desire to help him.

They become friends and Ramsom realises that drinking himself to death is not the answer to his so called problem. This friendship soon turns into something more. They are getting along very well and have everything that some couples could only wish for! Then Ramsom finds out that Dani has been keeping a secret from him. Is this the end of this blossoming relationship?

It's good to see what happens to Ramsom after that he thought all was lost. I like the way Rebel, Joe and the family feature in this instalment. The reason Ramsom gives for not wanting to let go of Joe is appalling. As sweet as Dani is, I can't see why she keeps that little secret from Ramsom but I enjoyed their story just the same.

I would definitely recommend the Forbidden Trilogy and this complement to 18+ readers due to the explicit and steamy sex.

I received this book in exchange for honest review.

Ransom has been through the worst betrayal ever, now still heartbroken and drowning his sorrows with alcohol (as usual) he is hit on by Dani, who is real and also has the same kind of "battle scars" that he does. He is her first for many things including her virginity, and his heart heals before he is aware that it had. She is the light in the darkness for him, and secrets that they were holding onto come to light and dealt with together, until he finds out hers and it is big. The argument from it is bigger, and words are said that can't be unsaid. Hurt lashes out, and days turn into weeks, weeks into months. Both of them hurting and too stubborn to stop the hurt, until Ransom runs into the source of this hurt. Dani's father (a superior to him at his job) who thankfully tells Ransom exactly how it is, and how his daughter is hurting.

Enter the I am not giving up on us and to quote the book "a promise made is a promise kept" Ransom who now is being rejected by Dani. She really doesn't want to be without him, but she is hurting and can't shake it off quickly. Afraid to reopen her heart to him all over again. Gifts start arriving and little by little he reopens her heart and re-enters her life with even more love and a good amount of healing for both of them happens.

I will not give any more away but this is by far the best HEA I have read. In order to know what I am talking about I really suggest you read this book, and this series. I am sure you will agree this is a great HEA and great book.

Thank you J.C.Valentine for this opportunity, I look forward to reading more of your books.
