About this event

The goal of Boot Camp 2021 is to give incoming grad students and postdocs introductory knowledge to some key resources and general skills needed in academic life.

This Introduction course led by, Prof. KT Ramesh (JHU) and Prof. Lori Graham-Brady (JHU), will be offered virtually and cover topics such as:

  • An introduction to JHU
  • An overview of HEMI
  • Science and Engineering
  • Thinking ahead: careers
  • Working with your advisor
  • Time management
  • Work/life balance
  • Managing stress during your program
  • Communication and conflict
  • An international perspective
  • Choosing research directions
  • Mind mapping
  • Ethics of research
  • How sponsored research works
  • Literature reviews

It will be offered both in-person at JHU and virtually through Zoom. If you are a local attendee we encourage you to attend in-person as space permits.

We will send Zoom connection information to virtual attendees at least 24 hours in advance.
