Sullivan Hall 901 12th Avenue Seattle, WA 98122Description
Please join Seattle University’s Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) and Access to Justice Institute* for our annual Evening With Equal Justice. As one of the largest on-campus public interest networking events of the year, law students will have the opportunity to interact and learn from a diverse range of public interest and pro bono attorneys.
This year’s Evening With Equal Justice will begin at 5 p.m. with an introduction by Dean Clark followed by a keynote address by Tarra Simmons ’17, Executive Director of Civil Survival and Skadden Fellow for the Public Defender Association. Ms. Simmons will be speaking about her personal journey into public interest law, issues of reentry from incarceration, and criminal justice reform.
Following the address, attorneys and students will meet each other and be grouped based on practice areas and interests. Attorneys are encouraged to attend the keynote address or join us at 6 p.m. for networking with students grouped by practice area.
For law students, this is your chance to hear from attorneys about how their public interest careers started, to get tips for getting involved during law school, and to get answers to your questions about public interest work. You need not prepare anything formal, just come ready to ask questions, make connections, and learn from an amazing community of advocates.
*Co-sponsored by the Public Interest Law Foundation, Access to Justice Institute, Center for Professional Development, Dean's Offices, and Student Bar Association.
