Disability 101: Laying the Foundation for Disability Success

Join OCRA to kick off this exciting webinar series. The panelists will talk about what it means to be a Black American with a disability.  The session will also cover why breaking down negative ideas about disabilities is important for the Black and African American community.

An informal space for attendees to meet and learn from each other.  DRC staff will lead the conversation.


How Much is the Regional Center Spending on Black & African American Families?

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Regional centers must release information on how much is spent on clients based on race and ethnicity. The data shows disparities in spending exist. You will learn how to prepare for public meetings and where to get the information for your own regional center. You will also learn how to use the disparity data to advocate for more services from the regional center.

Learn about barriers to enrolling in the self-determination program. The speakers will also share their experiences once they enrolled in the program.

A panel of advocates will highlight available resources to empower regional center clients and their families. These may include regional center services, community resources and public benefits. The event will conclude by learning about DRC’s ongoing efforts to address the needs of the Black and African American community.
