Ted received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at California State Polytechnic College - San Luis Obispo. One of his first positions was as an engineer at Hoover Dam Hydro-electric Power. Later he spent 34 years at APS (Arizona Public Service) in Phoenix, Arizona where he eventually moved up to Senior Engineer at APS. Ted married Sue Hayashi in 1978, and they have one daughter, Stephanie. He was an active member of the Arizona Buddhist Temple and served as president for a few years; served on the Matsuri Committee and received a plaque in 2000 for his hard work and dedication; served 5 years as a board member of the JACL (Japanese American Citizens’ League), and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. During his active working years, and even when he retired from APS, Ted was sought after for his advice and knowledge as an electrical engineer when attending conferences.
He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Ian Harwell, sister Fumi, and two brothers Tadao and Stan.
