WE DO TAXES

The Cooperative Ministry provides free, high-quality tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers to families and individuals earning under $63,000 a year.

Free tax services reopen Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at locations around the Midlands. Click here to find a site close to home or work. Operating hours vary, and no appointments are necessary at most of our sites. The Cooperative Ministry will close each day once capacity is reached; capacity is dependent upon the availability of volunteers.

File your federal and state tax return one of three ways using our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program:

OPTION 1: IN-PERSON DROPOFF AND PICKUP

Arrive at one of our sites, complete the intake process, and provide needed tax documents. You will be scheduled to return to pick up your completed return on another day. Your tax return is prepared and checked for errors by IRS-certified volunteers between your two visits.

Please click here for what tax documents to bring.

OPTION 2: VIRTUAL DROP-OFF (ONLINE)

The Cooperative Ministry has teamed up with GetYourRefund.org to help you file your taxes online with the help of our certified VITA volunteers. You will answer a series of questions, upload your tax documents to a secure site, and schedule a call with a certified IRS tax preparer to finalize and submit your return.

OPTION 3: DO IT YOURSELF THROUGH MY FREE TAXES
