Governor Names Forum’s Joe Blanner to Convention and Sports Complex Board

Posted on 02/01/2022

Construction Forum Board President Joe Blanner  has been appointed by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson to the Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority (STLRSA).  Blanner was one of three gubernatorial appointees to the commission.  The appointments were announced Jan. 28.

The terms of all five state appointees to the 11-member STLRSA that owns the Dome at America’s Centers had expired.  The three appointees need to be confirmed by the Missouri Senate.  Parson also needs to appoint a chair to the STLRSA

The board is squarely in the spotlight after STLRSA, the city and the county settled a 2017 lawsuit in November with the NFL and the Rams for $790 million.  The law firms representing the plaintiffs will receive 35% of the settlement, or $276.5 million. That leaves the city, county and Dome authority splitting $513.5 million.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be appointed,” Blanner said. “My hope is that the organization can help bring about long-lasting regional change.”

Blanner, who lives in Eureka, is an attorney member with McCarthy, Leonard & Kaemmerer, L.C. and has more than 20 years of legal experience.  He has earned the Roy F. Essen Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the St. Louis County Bar Association, Citizen of the Year award from the City of Eureka, and been included in a 40 Under 40 publication by the St. Louis Business Journal.

He is Co-Founder and President of Construction Forum.  He is also a board member of the University of Missouri–St. Louis Chancellor’s Council and Past-President of the UMSL Alumni Association.  Blanner earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and his Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in Public Administration from Saint Louis University.
