Two Boone County Missouri Highway Patrol troopers promoted to serve at headquarters

Two Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers from Troop F, which includes Boone County, recently were promoted and will serve in new roles starting June 1 at the patrol headquarters in Jefferson City. 

Scott Ballard received a promotion to lieutenant and will transfer to the field operations bureau.

He started with the patrol in 2004 in Morgan and Moniteau counties after graduating from the patrol's law enforcement academy. He transferred to Boone County in 2006, where he was promoted to corporal and the assistant zone supervisor in 2011. He was promoted as a sergeant and zone supervisor for Boone County in 2017. 

Originally from St. Louis, Ballard is a 2003 graduate of Columbia College with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He and his wife, Shanna, have three children: Ethan, Evan and Emerson.

Matthew J. Broniec also was promoted to lieutenant and will be the assistant director of the Budget and Procurement Division.

He started with the patrol in 1995 in Audrain County. He was a K-9 handler from 1998-2009, where he was partnered with the dogs Edyn and later Kai. He was promoted to corporal in 2000. In 2009, he was promoted to sergeant and was transferred to Boone County as a zone supervisor.

Originally from Creve Coeur, Broniec is a 1990 graduate of University of Missouri-St. Louis with a bachelor's in business administration. He completed the Leadership in Police Organizations course in 2015. He and his wife, Carrie, have two children: Jacob and Rachael.
